"James checked me in and put a smile on my face just by being friendly. The room is great and parking is convenient. The AC works, it just needed an hour to get cranking. There's a cool stream nearby. The area is walkable; James recommended Fridas, an excellent Mexican restaurant about 3-4 blocks up the road. Great margaritas and tacos and excellent salsa, an easy walk. The trolley that moves people around town has a stop right here. The wifi is a little slow - but you're in Durango, go outside!"

"This was a great hotel. We stayed here for two nights on our drive-through Colorado. The staff was really nice and very helpful at the front desk. It's right on Main Street so you can walk right out your front door and have access to all kinds of restaurants and shops. The room was extremely comfortable. Do note that if you want a room with windows, you may end up in a building across the street from the actual hotel, but that's OK. The lobby of the hotel has a very comfortable seating area, which they call the library Where one can have coffee, tea, and comfortably read or wait for your friends. A minor drawback is that there is no elevator in the detached building so you have to schlep your bags upstairs. It is also located immediately adjacent to the train depot so that can be a little noisy, although not at night."

"This charming cottage with a front porch looking across a bubbling brook to a small pond with mountains in the distance was such a better option than a chain hotel room with common hallways. It is a bit out of town but you can go into historic Durango for activities and then return here for a peaceful sleep, a pastoral setting and a delightful breakfast with other guests. More room for kids to move around in or go check out the chickens at Chick Inn. "

"Room were a great size. and ours was an ADA room. Only things that would have made it better would have been a walk in shower. But with plenty of hand holds and a fairly low tub height we made it work for my wife. Breakfast was pretty much normal fair , but everything was very well set up and very clean."

The property manager noticed on our reservation that we had kids traveling with us and made sure we knew about the river and games available to play on the property. The owners—a delightful couple—were accommodating and genuinely pleasant, adding a personal touch that made us feel welcome. One of the highlights was spending time on the back deck, which offered stunning views of the mountains and unforgettable sunsets, all accented by the charm of hummingbirds and wild turkeys in the yard. There was one minor drawback: the bedroom floor squeaked noticeably with each step, occasionally waking my wife in the morning. While this didn’t detract from the overall experience, addressing the issue would make future stays even more restful. "

"We had to make a last minute reservation as we were traveling through and a little afraid based on some of the other reviews. We were pleasantly surprised as the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the employees very nice. We both a a great night sleep and could finish our road trip the next morning. "

"Not sure how many of the rooms are remodeled but the one we got was and was very nice. They have a good morning breakfast and while they don't have a fitness center onsite, they provide free access to the well-equipped Durango Rec Center just a mile down the street - if you're looking for weights or some post-hiking light exercises. Hadn't stayed there before but would definitely recommend."
