"Really lovely quiet, restful stay for our young family. Spacious room, helpful mini fridge & big bathroom, friendly staff & lovely leisure facilities. Wonderful few days travelling to visit Bristol. Really close to many shops & M5 etc. Roll out bed really good quality, and the main bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever used for my painful back. Would use again. Thank you! "

One minor issue: sound carried quite loudly from the corridor to my room (though luckily the hotel was quiet so only happened briefly/ a couple of times)"

"We booked a room as part of a wedding party .wedding was at 2pm. Check in is 4pm which is quite late ,we had to be in the orangery for 4pm so staff managed to check us in 3.40pm .Room was perfect, slept well,breakfast amazing. Food at the wedding of Becky and Mark was incredible. Our first visit here and we will definitely return and use the pool/spa as we didn't get chance to on this occasion. Check out at 11am is good, no rushing around. Thankyou for a lovely stay "

"From arrival & pulling up in front of the beautiful grand house, full of old world charm, to checking in to our well appointed junior suite, the staff were attentive & polite, the food was delicious, locally sourced & served with attention to detail. The bar provided a fantastic selection of food & drinks & Champagne seemed to be the order of the day, we even tried a pint of Clarkson's local brew. Set in its own well kept grounds over looking Cheltenham racecourse, which was only a short walk though beautiful countryside, we felt a sense of tranquility & relaxation. With a lovely heated outdoor pool & entertainment areas, our stay never felt over crowded. After our 2 night stay we felt refreshed, having been well attended to by the staff. Check out came all too soon from this 5 Star luxury hotel & we left following an amazing breakfast. If you want to enjoy a quiet & unassuming luxury hotel, oozing with history & class, Ellenborough Park certainly ticks all the right boxes."

"Absolutely gorgeous hotel and I can't believe I got it for the price I did. I stayed alone on business mid week and the facilities were brilliant. A high standard Spa with a beautiful view out of the windows, decent sized gym (although it opened quite late at 7am, not the best when you have an early start - 6am would be perfect) and I even treated myself to a late evening massage (Emily was great). The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, and the staff were all very polite and helpful. I'd be staying much more often if the price was that achievable mid week (circa £120)."

"We had the Queen Mary I superior suite which was gorgeous. It had the biggest window of all the accommodation rooms. The bathroom had a stained glass window which was so unique. Everywhere I went in the Castle and its grounds I was awestruck by all the details. We did the History Walk with Phillip which was so interesting to hear about Edward Stafford and Henry viii. The church next door is stunning too. We had food in the bar as we felt the main dining menu was a bit over the top, and we’d already paid a lot to stay 2 nights. The bar food was very tasty. We had the Charcuterie board the first night and then toasted sandwiches, a child’s burger and a child’s hotdog the second night. Portions were generous and the child’s burger was adult sized! We enjoyed the mocktails. The strawberry one is like a milkshake. The grounds are all amazing, and it feels like you’re in a fairy tale setting. We did a wedding style photo shoot to celebrate our upcoming 15th anniversary. We have captured some fabulous memories in the photos our friend took. Thanks to everyone at Thornbury Castle for a fantastic stay! "
