"I have been to many hotels around the world and this is by far one of the best customer service I have experienced. The staff went beyond what they should do to make sure that we have a good experience. Hotel room was amazing well worth the price. I wish I could stay longer but we were there only for transit.

"This is a functional hotel, and it is fine for a one-night stay close to the airport. It does give you a felling on not wanting to be there. Minimal size rooms, minimal buffet dinner, minimal buffet breakfast. For a one-night stay, it is adequate."

"Beautiful, elegant and historic hotel within a well landscaped garden which is rare in Shanghai. Well preserved grand building in the former French Quarter and close to boutiques for lovely “qipaos” and fashionable clothes . "

"Fantastic location—just steps from major train and subway lines, and close to shopping malls. The room was spotless, exceptionally quiet, and beautifully designed with a contemporary, truly luxurious touch—more upscale than most 4- or 5-star hotels I’ve stayed at in the U.S. The food was excellent."

The lights across the bund seem to get switch off at 10pm (at least on weekdays). A bit tricky to get vegan food - do research! The tap water apparently is not safe to drink but bottled water is really cheap - and so is beer!

Wonderful city - very safe and easy to get around with Didi and Metro. Many historical building sites still standing majestically in the former foreign concessions. The bund is a must see sight!

It's easy to get around the city with the metro system being so widespread. The younger folks are able to speak English to varying degrees, which is a bonus for tourists from overseas.

We tried to visit Yuyuan Garden near the Temple of City Gods at ~4:30. We got deceived by both traffic warden and ticket seller. They convinced us to buy tickets while the garden was closed. We don't have to buy lantern show tickets to visit Garden
"Everything was incredible , hotel , food , position , the hotel is amazing , i recommend this Fairmont Peace Hotel in beautiful Shanghai , stunning !!!!
Love it !!!"
"Basic, but neat and comfortable hotel just off Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. Alice and Yosh at reception were absolutely brilliant and looked after me day and night. The coffee machine in the lobby is a nice touch. A great budget option close to all the major attractions in wonderful Shanghai. "
"Good location, service, ambience and infrastructure. Overall a good experience.
The timing and communication of the cleaning service could be improved."
"We stayed in the hotel 12 years ago when the kids were little. This year we brought them back, and we fully enjoyed it the same way we did 12 years ago! This hotel has a very special place in our heart. Especially, I made a mistake by double-booking the room, and the service manager helped me solve the problem within 24 hours by coordinating with Expedia HK. "
"This was one of the better hotels that we've had the plesure of staying. It was a picturesque venue. The only thing wrong is the morning buffet. A little pricey but convenient thing. Service was excellent. We had a deffective mini bar fridge which was promptly replaced."
"The hotel is a little old and dated, but the rooms are nice, clean but not worn. The service is great. For the price, it's hard to find a place in a better location. It's a classic hotel with a lot of history."
"his place is super convenient. There’s a supermarket and many restaurants in the mall. The mall also has direct access to the subway.
Once you check in, learn the shortcut to the elevator hallway directly from the mall using your room key. This will save you a lot of time and an extra elevator ride from the hotel lobby."
