"The room was very small but adequate for a stop over but I did expect a little bigger. Was also clean and we were not at all cold. But it doesn’t really feel like a “guesthouse”. A) it seems more like they just built some rooms in their backyard and accommodate people for extra money - there is no breakfast option etc. but mostly B) the hostess was really not friendly and did not make us feel welcome at all. She just stood leaning against the counter with her arms folded when we arrived. She...

"There was no water and this wasn't explained to us. Also Google maps directed us in a way that took us on a road with unmarked huge speed bumps that damaged the car. Should put a warning about that for sure. Grounds were nice and the place was clean and comfortable."

"Staying with the sisters who run the property and the other staff became increasingly pleasant with every passing day. Plus, I was more than comfortable in my room, where they don't skimp on pillows for those of us who like to sit up in bed to work. There's no generator on the premises for the load-shedding but that's normal for comparable properties. Just stay atune to the schedule is what I learned in southern Africa."

"Fantastic size and cleanliness with plenty of supplies (milk, tea, coffee, fruit, cleaning products) provided.
Staff would assist with anything uncluding washing up and laundry, so not really "self-catering" if you wish.
Note: parys of road can be rough depending on rainfall so I would not use a sedan, but at least a light SUV. "

"The time we were able to spend in Mbizi Lodge was just insane. Bjorn and Divya are such great people and excellent hosts.
The morning and evening drives with Bjorn are unforgettable moments. We learned so much about the animals and about South Africa.
The food was the best we had at our whole South Africa trip.
An absolute recommendation!"

"This is a most beautiful and tranquil hideaway that invites you in so you never want to leave. In the first hour of our arrival a herd of elephants with some babies came to drink, just metres away. Hardus and his team offered impeccable service. Wonderful meals every day, with every wish catered for. The highlight, by far, was the game drives early morning and late afternoon. It had two twin beds, a set of bunk beds, small kitchenette, television, air conditioning, desk and chair, as well as outdoor patio. The pool was clean and extremely warm, but refreshing. The outside area was well maintained and staff was always busy keeping it that way. The common area had a bar (honor system) and rooftop patio with comfortable furniture. "This was terrible, Our room was already booked, although we book and pay in advance.
The owner took more than 1 hour to arrive to the B&B.
He gave us so many unreal explanation, at the end she give us a room in another B&B, which cost less that we pay.
Not recommended at all."

"This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. A graduation trip including myself, my husband, and our 3 teenage daughters. I highly recommend the Ezulwini River Lodge for a safari vacation. The staff was fabulous, food and accommodations were 5 star, and the safari drives and animal encounters were amazing. I am recommending this trip for anyone interested in a South African safari. Planning was seamless and every want or need was met. The entire stay surpassed my expectations in every way."
"We were rather disappointed with the directions to the lodge as they were rather misleading and Confusing.
The service at the lodge by a young man called Knowledge was very good. "
"The Pondoro experience is first class from beginning to end! The location is stunning and we watched hippo, crocs, giraffe, elephants and all sorts from our room. The games drives led by the wonderful Shadlack and Dion were breathtaking, with the big 5 and all manner of wildlife seen on multiple occasions. They also hosted a river walk which showed us how they look for tracks and gave a very different perspective to the hippos and crocs! All the staff at the lodge are fantastic, there is a warm welcome every day and a real personal touch with attention to details that makes each day special. The food is exceptional and would definitely recommend the lunchtime picnic if you get the opportunity."
"The premises is very nice, very clean and comfortable. The self catering unit was well equipped with everything you may need for self catering. The place is beautiful and peaceful. Loved the communication and flexibility I got when still planning the trip and the efforts made to make our birthday special.
The only thing I didn’t not like was the rudeness from the lady that woke us up for breakfast on our last morning, she was very rude about how we must be at breakfast by 08:00 ( which o think of breakfast is between 08:00 and 10:00 then guests should have the flexibility between those times). The girl banged the door and rudely communicated how we need to be there at 08:00. She needs general customer service communication training as all my encounters with her were not pleasant. The rest of the staff was amazing. "
"Sue and Deon were wonderful hosts at a wonderful and first class unique property.
Definitely stay here for African wildlife viewing also ! The game reserve was great hiking as a bonus. Super breakfast and hospitality. "
"I had a fantastic stay at Motswari. It’s so welcoming and the staff treats you like family or old friends visiting. The hotel is beautiful, the delicious breakfast overlooking the river and the dinner in the bush were unforgettable experiences. Guide and tracker team was also great, very friendly and knowledgeable. "
"Simply fantastic. Geiger is an amazing place, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Game drives were great, the Kruger is a beautiful place and the guide+trackers were very knowledgeable about the area and all the animals. Food was also really good. Hope to come back one day."
"Everything at Nyati Safari Lodge was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were spotless and incredibly comfortable – ours was located right in front of the river, and on the very first day we had elephants, crocodiles, and other wildlife right in front of us. It was like living in a nature documentary!
The meals and drinks were delicious! The entire staff was incredibly attentive, making us feel welcome and taken care of every step of the way.
The highlight of our stay was definitely the game drives. Kenneth, Peter, Pride, and Freja went above and beyond, always asking which animals we wanted to see and doing everything they could to make it happen. Each game drive ended with either a morning coffee or a sunset drink, always paired with a breathtaking view of the reserve.
I truly can’t wait to go back!"
"Josef is a most gracious host, kind, attentive , accommodating, and and knowledgeable. The facilities are modern and clean, we lacked for nothing. Saw some lovely birds and even bushbabies right in the back yard at the pool. A safe bet for your first africa trip."
"Excellent host and staff are very friendly. Room had the best view over the riverbed, it was great sitting outside in the evenings, listening to the sounds of the bush. Room had everything we needed. Pool was lovely on hot days! Great value for money!"
"This place is a must go. From the moment you checkin and are greeted by Francisco to the time you leave, you feel like the most important person in the world.
The guides we had (Simon, Rudolph) were incredible and got us up close and personal with the animals.
We will be taking our family back! "
"We had a fantastic experience at Bushbaby River Lodge and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Communication with the staff was seamless, ensuring everything was perfectly arranged even before our arrival.
The breakfast options were delightful, offering a variety of choices such as waffles, pancakes, French toast, and a classic English breakfast—something for everyone to enjoy. The heat pump/air conditioner worked flawlessly, making our stay comfortable regardless of the temperature outside.
The facilities were spotless, with warm water readily available and a refreshing pool to relax in. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.
Conveniently located just 15 minutes from the airport, the lodge is also surrounded by wildlife, offering a serene and immersive experience. For those interested, the staff can help arrange game drives, making it easy to explore the incredible nature and wildlife in the area.
Overall, Bushbaby River Lodge is a gem that combines comfort, convenience, and a touch of the wild. We look forward to returning!"
"Not value for money. Dinner was tasteless. Disturbing was to catch a worker at 07:30 the next morning hiding under our tent while we were bathing. The wooden floor has clear gaps to look through. When confronted he said he was there to fix a problem. Complained to the manager and she only replied "Sorry for that". No investigation or request to identify the worker. Internet is non-existent and lights are inadequate in the tent. "
"The service is excellent, people treat you like a family. The game drive was fantastic
It’s a bit far from the city town but that’s part of the ambiance "
"Great place. If you like elephants you will see many here. Overall a great place, from the people working there, to the food and amazing game drives."
"The stay at ATKV Eiland is amazing. Good value for money, and wurth every cent. Tidy and clean. All the facilities is there to keep you occupied and busy. Or else you can just relax next to the clean swimming pool with the restaurant right there. Table tennis, jukskei, bowls, all available. Will definitely be spending more time at this resort!!!"
"During my stay at Mbizi Bush Lodge, I was genuinely impressed by the exceptional quality of service and the overall experience. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this was no ordinary lodge; it felt like a home away from home, where the staff welcomed me as if I were a part of their family.
The service at Mbizi Bush Lodge was truly five stars. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was perfect. Whether it was the warm smiles that greeted me each morning or the personalized touches that made my room feel so inviting, the team at Mbizi excelled in creating a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready to assist with any request or provide recommendations for making the most out of my stay. This level of care made a significant difference, elevating the entire experience to something extraordinary.
The culinary offerings at Mbizi Bush Lodge were nothing short of spectacular. Each meal was a delightful journey through flavors, crafted with care and expertise. The chefs clearly have a passion for what they do, as every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, vibrant tastes. From hearty breakfasts to elegant dinners, the food was consistently of the highest quality. It wasn’t just about eating; it was about savoring every bite in the serene, natural surroundings. Dining at Mbizi was an experience in itself, one that I looked forward to every day.

"This was an amazing experience. The accommodation was clean, spacious and well presented. It accurately reflected the photographs. Outside shower and private pool with personal butler. The food was extremely good and the staff went over and above to exceed our expectations. The food was by far superior than high end restaurants. I really enjoyed the entire stay and can’t fault the experience. It was calm & peaceful in nature. I was sad to leave and will ensure I book for longer in the future."
