St. Helena is a good place to visit in the off season (winter time) when the traffic is lighter and the restaurants less crowded. Wine tasting though, isn't what it used to be pre-pandemic. Tasting now costs $50-60 and is not comp'ed if you buy wine.

Excellent
Downtown St. Helena is a nice little area, with several very good dining options, both coffee/breakfast and dinner. Many little shops with unique offerings offer a inviting break between winery visits.

In addition to the many boutiques and galleries in St. Helena we walked to the Orin Swift Cellars Tasting Room and Model Bakery. Great meals at Press and Cook St. Helena.

Model Bakery (the English muffins). We did a few wineries but certainly can not speak for all of them but V Sattui definitely has a great variety and amazing little gift/cafe area.

We love St Helena. Always great restaurants and shopping. Yountville is wonderful also
"This was a great facility. It was close to many restaurants, shops, and the freeway. It felt like it was in a very safe area. Property was clean, breakfast had lots of great choices.
The ONLY reason I did not give this hotel a "5 Star" has to do not with this specific location, but whoever designed the rooms (at the corporate level). The door to the bathroom is a sliding "Barn Door" and looks great and saves room, but it is brushed glass - you can definitely see shapes thru it. When you have teens in the room who want their privacy, this is a bit of an issue. And because it's glass, the light from the bathroom shines thru, which at night when you are trying to sleep, can be distrurbing if you are light sensitive. The bathroom door does not face directly into the sleeping area, so it's not a huge issue, but it is not the best design option IMO. However, everything else about this hotel was outstanding. Great workout area; large, clean lobby with many seating options (couches, tables, etc). "
"Absolutely loved this hotel. We originally only gonna stay one night and ended up staying two nights. The location was absolutely amazing. I was able to park in a great area and the city Square across from us had movie nights and even farmers market very walkable lots of great restaurants near the hotel."
Hotel Centro Sonoma Wine Country, Tapestry Collection Hilton
10/10 Excellent
"We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Centro! From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The hotel itself is beautifully designed—modern, clean, and stylish with thoughtful touches throughout. Our room was spotless, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, with cozy bedding and a sleek bathroom.
The location is ideal—just minutes from downtown Santa Rosa and an easy drive to nearby wineries and Safari West. We also appreciated the on-site restaurant and bar, which made it easy to relax after a day of exploring.
Every detail, from the friendly service to the relaxing ambiance, made this stay feel special. We’ll definitely be returning the next time we’re in Sonoma Wine Country. Highly recommend!

"I’d would highly recommend this property to enjoy an amazing atmosphere and surrounding environment. Delightful dining. Loved the bathhouse……loved spending the night and connect with my wife in a very comfortable and romantic way. Thank you Ben "
"I am so happy to choose this place to stay. It was my first time staying in Santa Rosa, and I cannot talk enough about my great stay. Great service, amazing location, plus a very classy, nostalgic hotel. The service is excellent, and I highly recommend this place"
"The manager was super friendly and accommodating. Who was a great amount to have access to as well as the hot tub. There was a beautiful property with Vineyards growing all over every staff person we ran into whether they were maintenance or management. We’re all awesome to work with."

"I very much enjoyed my stay at Sandman Hotel. Room was clean and in very good condition, refrigerator and microwave worked, and bed was comfortable. Five stars!"
"Beautiful room. Great service. The pumps for the conditioner, shampoo and body wash don’t pump easily and the bottles were hard to read. The spa uses the room’s bath. I would rather bathe in a larger pool of hot mineral water. I could have set up my own bath."
"This hotel is perfectly situated. So many dining options and great shopping within walking distance, and just two short blocks from the Uptown Theater. Access to the Napa River walk path is nearby, great for a morning exercise walk or stroll with morning coffee. All of the staff that we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful. I'll be back!"
"I loved this hotel! Lovely room, comfortable bed perfect location. Calistoga is such a cute little town we enjoyed our stay, and will plan to stay longer next time. I will say that the claw foot tub/shower combo was a bit uncomfortable in that the plastic shower curtain was so "bunchy" that it was difficult to keep it from touching you while you showered. Maybe they could cut the plastic panel a bit to stretch it out? I liked the bath products used--great smelling! The hot springs tub was closed for repairs, which was unfortunate. But the bottle of wine as a consolation prize was well done!"
