Great location and breakfast, ok rooms and service

The hotel is a bit old and worn out, the room is pretty small, but the views on the higher floors are amazing, the location is good and breakfast is superb. But the personnel is ok, couldn't find a luggage trolley and weren't really friendly.
Bauyrzhan, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Not so expensive, but easy to access to all what you need for your tourism and your work. They work efficiently not organizationally but personally. I enjoyed a lot staying here. There were good restaurants and cafes around there .

The Time Capsule Hotel😍

The hotel was pretty amazing experience to have in Almaty as I’ve been told that its one of the oldest hotels their and its like a time capsule😍 the view are wonderful no matter which side or floor you are at! The hotel have 24/7 restaurant (Noodles) and its yummy as well as they have 24/7 mini market inside the hotel and a coffee shop. If I'm visiting Almaty again, definitely will be staying at Kazakhstan Hotel again.
Anas, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

Sauna is for private sessions during the day. Room wth no AC, should have mentioned during booking. Good food.
AIBEK, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The hotel is clean and tidy, rooms were well kept. Good breakfast. I do recommend staying here since it serves the purpose but you need to know certain things. I deduct one star because there is no above-and-beyond element. At all! The hotel charged me 12,000 Tenge for airport pickup when I could have just walked to the Blue Taxi counter in the arrivals hall, to whom the pick up drive casually gave back the sign with my name on it. I paid 2500 Tenge back to the airport! What a mark-up! Not fair! In addition, I arrived at around 10 am. They sold me a room for the extra 4 hours before check in (about $100). Most hotels would allow early check in if rooms were available, and there were plenty. I saw many people sitting in the lobby with luggage who would not pay this extra amount. This hotel runs as a business, nothing more.
G V Ramesh, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Staff is not helpful- i had three suitcases however no help from staff.
Aziza, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Just perfect!

The building is the highlight of this hotel, it is visible from many parts of the city and also is a feature of many portraits and paintings seen across the city! The rooms are large, with good city views! We booked a suite with mountain views! It's has a restaurant called Noodles at the ground floor which is good! They have a bar on the terrace and ground floor, so you would have plenty options if you are not willing to leave the hotel. Making it a bustling/ bustling property. You'll find people coming and going through out the day. On weekends they have music playing in these bars, you can walk down and join the party or rest in your room. However the music can be heard on higher floors as well. The location is just perfect to access the majority of the attractions via taxi or subway. Also a few cafe's and restaurants at a walkable distance! Do request them for renovated rooms, the staff is helpful! An over-all comfortable stay!
Raghav, 7-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

I've been to Kazakhstan many times and stayed at several places in Almaty. The Hotel Kazakhstan is my top choice for several reasons: It is in a prime location in the heart of the city where you can easily walk to many of the main attractions--the Green Bazaar, Panfilov Park, Ascension Cathedral, Kok-Tobe funicular, the opera house, etc. Almaty is a city made for walking! The hotel Kazakhstan is at a higher elevation, especially if you're in an upper floor, so the air is much fresher. The big windows in the rooms also open wide, so you can let in all the fresh mountain air. The complimentary breakfast is vast, with all the usual breakfast items plus many hot dishes, fruits, salads, etc. There are several good restaurants in the Hotel KZ complex, and there are dozens of excellent restaurants nearby. Directly behind the Hotel Kazakhstan is a peaceful and shady city park where you can relax. It also has a great children's playground--excellent if you are traveling with kids. If you are new to Almaty, you will want to ride up to Kok-Tobe on the funicular, and the entrance is directly next door. I found the hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly. (Not all the staff are equally good with English, so you should have patience too.) Lastly, the room rates are a great bargain (I had a "Superior" room on the 24th floor on my last visit, which had terrific mountain views.) There are many much more expensive hotels in Almaty, but the Hotel Kazakhstan is my personal favorite.

10/10 Exceptional

Lovely hotel, conveniently located with helpful staff. I had a comfortable room with the most beautiful view overlooking Kok Tobe and the mountains.
Lisa, 5-night trip

8/10 Very good

Tudo funciona no hotel.
