Their breakfast starts at 8am which is a bit late if you’re travelling for business. They kept a bowl of granola, milk and fruit in the fridge which could make up for the breakfast however the fruits where mouldy. :(
They are generous with the complementary morning drinks in the room but when i am about to use the teaspoon it’s dirty. Not sure if the housekeeping managed to replace it from the previous guest. :( another disappointment.
In the middle of the night, I kept waking up by the toilet pipes, i think one of the rooms was flushing the toilet and everytime it filled back up, the noise was too loud.
On the positive note, the hotel is full of character. The area is quiet.

It’s a 3star hotel, reasonably priced, pleasant bar area, really friendly helpful staff. Basic cottage accommodation on site, but clean and comfortable enough for a one night Alton Towers trip. Good tea & coffee provision in room and full English in the morning was delicious. We enjoyed our stay, it did what we wanted it to.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and food both in evening and breakfast was good. Location was also very nice. However, the room we were given was the worst i have stayed in for years. Very old and poor decor with very dated bathroom that even my Nan would class as dated with no shower which is listed on room amenities. Stained carpet, uncomfortable but clean bed, all furniture was very dated and not in a good or antique way more like stuff that has been thrown out by others. General feeling once you move past the bar / lobby area is that hotel is very dated and very poorly maintained. I travel a lot and did feel the room was not worth the £105 paid - more like a £40 room.
If we had booked for more than one evening I would have had a problem and would be asking for a better room or my money back.

We stayed in cottage 2. Overall it was ok. The bathroom though needed a makeover. Also above was cottage 3 a d it was very noisy with people walking around and talking. The floorboards creaked constantly. We would’ve preferred that cottage as we stayed m-f but the cottage 3 had change overs everyday which made things annoying, especially with 2 children. The food was ok but very basic no steaks just gammon but tasty would’ve like to see more on the menu. The breakfasts were hit and miss. Depends on the chef.

What a beautiful location. We stayed here as they had family rooms that slept 5 and it was only 25 minutes from Alton Towers. Breakfast was included in our stay, it was delicious and a there was something for everyone.
All staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and well thought out with some useful additions such as a portable fan, plenty of tea/coffe/hot chocolate and biscuits, lots of shampoo and bodywash etc....
We will definitely be back to stay and explore the local area

Lovely, friendly staff and a beautiful position on Rudyard lake. Bathroom was quite new and in good condition but some areas a little tired and needs a spruce up. Can’t fault the service though and breakfast was AMAZING!
