- Onsen was nice - Internet speed was slow

For 250.00 a night, I would expect breakfast to be included. They did not. Hotel has a very 60's feel to it. The hallways smelled dusty. Staff was pleasant, as all Japanese are.

The room smelled smoky tabaco. Worker brought air cleaner though. Room size was big enough. Breakfasts were too much, buffet style, we couldn’t eat them all.

there was no chance for breakfast as too many people are at the waiting list. the price of over 40,000 yen is definetely too much expensive for this quality.

Good value

Good hotel. A bit away from the main area of town so the dinner choices are limited.

Large hotel with Onsen

Large hotel with a nice large Onsen for guest use. Rather far from central Nagano. Need to either take the hotel bus that goes every hour or take the local bus. Supermarket and Lawson store within walking distant from 5 minutes. Breakfast available on site. Good selection. However if staying several nights it can get a bit repetitive.

Breakfast buffet was amazing. The onsen was nice. Our expierence was very streamlined, but lacked the charm of smaller onsen.

Excellent Hotel and Onsen in Nagano

Amazing hotel and spa in Nagano area. About 30mins by bus from Nagano Station to Kandabashi station. Then 2min walk to the hotel. Hotel has an onsen which is great! Lobby has drinks and snacks at different times of the day. Includes unlimited soft drinks, alcohol, tea, coffee, water and snacks. Coin laundry with dryer is available if you need to wash clothes. Great view of the mountains from our room.

Not what was expected

Large hotel with lots of tour bus traffic. Large lobby, lounge is only open for one and a half hours. Stayed in a traditional Japanese style room that could sleep 7. Four people was very tight. No complimentary coffee. Extensive breakfast buffet needing reservations and expensive. Floor we were on was in need of renovation. Could have been cleaner.
Dan, 3-night trip

The facility is very dated. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is not close to the train station.

10/10 Exceptional

The hotel and the room ( Japanese style) was really nice with a view on the mountains. There is a really nice restaurant on the 1st floor, that I recommend it’s a little expensive (8000yen person) but the quality of the food is very very good. The only downside is that the electric outlet are in the entrance of the room, nothing near the beds

Great view, meal, hotspring; interesting area

The breakfast buffet was extravaganza! I never seen that much extent of options and they were top notch! It is a big hotel so they had to limit time so we got busy exploring different items. We did not have dinner there but I wonder what it would have been like. We went out to a local mom and pop bar. The immediate area did not seem to have many options for eating out though. The hot spring bath was nice. We enjoyed going between inside and olhalf-outside baths. We didn't do this but saw used the sauna and cold bath. The view from the room was wonderful, looking at snow-capped mountain ridges. The only con is that we were a family of 5 and had to get separated into two rooms. It would have been nice to stay together in one room with five futons. Maybe they were out of bigger rooms when we booked? The location was good for a car access. It is away from the city center of Nagano so if you travel by train, a taxi ride would be needed. But we were pleasantly surprised by what this Matsushiro area had to offer. After checking out we drove a few minutes to the Matsushiro historic residential area, parked, strolled the old Shinto shrine and Buddhist temples. Then we toured into the enormous cave that Imperial Japan dug near the end of WWII to move the headquarter from Tokyo. They never actually moved, but they preserved the cave as a historic site. big military

8/10 Very good

Spacious room, comfortable bed, service is ok. Breakfast spread was great. Free parking available. Do take note that hotel charges ¥900 per room for bathing tax, apparently for usage of public bath (onsen), even though we did not use it at all during our 3 nights stay. Hotel staff explained that this bathing tax will be charged regardless of usage. This is not logic, in my point of view. Mecure management (being a big hotel chain) should look into a managing system to only charge this tax for rooms that used the public bath.
Stasia, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Needs lots of updates. Excellent staff.

Excellent staff can’t make up for elderly property. Far from station and you will need to order taxis to and from as the buses and hotel shuttle don’t run often. Non-smoking in name but still lingering smoke smell as nothing has been updated since the rooms were smoking. There was mildew on the shower curtains and central AC so you are unable to adjust the temperature in the room. It was very warm on the top floors.

Worst hotel experience of my life! First they are not in nagano they are in other city like 40 minutes from the downtown, you need to take a bus and then walk through a dark and rough road !!! they hotel have a little bus with just 10 seats for like 400 rooms and just with 4 different hours to take it to downtown but it’s super old and it’s always fully reserved !!!! the hotel is super old and ugly, the service sucks, they don’t even speak English and took us more than a hour to make the check in and they offer to take some water and peanuts to wait jajajajaja We book 3 nights but we just stay one night and we book other one even if that make us loosing the money we paid !!! We felt like I was in North Korea the design is awful and super old , to be honest I never expected something like that in Japan! We already was traveling through more than 6 different cities of Japan and every hotel was very good and clean but this one was super the opposite ! They should call them self a hotel or even a resort! the carpet on the room and in the lobby have blood, they just never clean it !!! This kind of property doesn’t should be able to be in a web like Expedia ! Take care of them.

10/10 Exceptional

Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed.

I have been to Japan many times over a period of 10 years. I have stayed in so many hotels I can not count anymore. Straight facts. Hotel is very reasonably priced. It is in a great location. Short taxi ride to many restaurants and many attractions within walking distance. The restaurant is great. One day I did not fell like going out to dinner. I spend 8000 Yen per person on the dinner buffet...At first I was reluctant...but they had Alcohol and beer included. All you can eat and Drink. It was amazing. My booking included breakfast and lounge. Lounge Was amazing. Turns out there was a lot of people to check in that day. No problem. All you can drink beer and Sparkling Wine...plus many other choices. they do have evening mixer as well, 2100-2300. That one has hard alcohol and beer...plus regular beverages and snacks...The onsen is good but it could be better. I love the outdoor onsen. They do have one. But it is not so open. Onsen is a great bonus so I am not complaining. Reasonable Price and comfort make it great for couples. IDK about other travelers. But If you like Onsen and Drinks...This is a place for you. 16000 yen might be a bit much for 2 people for dinner. But Gyu Kaku ran me 15800. But you have to add 2100 yen taxi to get there and 3000 to get back. Considering that. Buffet with Unlimited DRINKS!!! Is a good Choice. Would definitely stay again 10/10 would recommend. Like I said. Pragmatically it is the best Hotell I ever stayed in.

You couldn't pay me to stay here again. It is so old, stains on the floors and walls, the beds are terrible, the AC doesn't work, and they charge an arm and a leg for a mediocre breakfast. The only good thing was the free candy.
