8/10 Very good

Nice drive to get here
daryl, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Been staying here couple of nights a fortnight for work for the past 5 months. Not the flashest place but suits my needs for a place to sleep at a decent price. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
Ie, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Staff were lovely. Facilities were pretty basic but price was cheap, so good value if you’re looking by for a place that won’t break the bank. Very handy to town.
Ryan, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

A modest room with two single but very comfortable beds. Both mornings we were awakened early by loud music from a nearby gym. A pleasent enough stay for the price
Ron, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

No air-conditioning. Good bar with interesting people. 3 blocks from the Itercity bus line. Lots of bars and resterants. Needed a phone and found one around the corner at Kiwi Tech.
Duane, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Too noisey, music until around 1.30am from within the hote. Tired and dated, would never stay here again

6/10 Good

For what we paid it was fine. Music was super loud til very late. Very outdated. We were aloud early check in which was helpful and had free parking.
katy, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

It was tired It might have once housed the queen but not now - checking in in the public bar was experience I could have done with out. It was tired but clean and cheap for what it was it was value for money - just old and tired.
Peter, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

I came back from a trip on the morning I was due to checkout to find my room left wide open and my belongings removed.
Mark, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The place was relatively clean and tidy. Just very very run down and tired. Staff were very helpful. The road noise was horrible and the noise from the nightclub terrible! So if you are a light sleeper then this is perhaps not for you.
Daniel, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Thin walls between rooms and the noisy street. A music band practicing room just below ours for two hours. Starting and stopping playing music at very loud settings. Had to go to bar to check in and then the patrons stood drunk on the street yelling until 3 am. Wouldn’t stay here again even if it was free.

Old, needs refurbishing

Very old, seedy hotel, The Grand is the ‘Grand History’ of the hotel being over 100 years old. The age really shows and affected our comfort and enjoyment. The bar is open until 1:30 am and could hear it until 1:00 am. The hotel needs updating and repairing badly. The mattress was very soft. Although fairly clean the bathroom had rust and scale buildup on the pipes and floor. Although just one block away from many shops and cafes the area itself felt unsafe.

8/10 Very good

Very clean room and comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.
Christopher, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Price fair - interior outdated yet serviceable - very clean, only one chair available in room for two persons - double bed set-up against side wall, making fixed bed lighting off set. Loud music carrying up from ground floor 'Gaming Lounge' function room every evening - persistent noise nuisance until midnight first night and then until 2 a.m. the following night - with revellers then brawling into street for a full hour afterwards. Very unpleasant experience. Would not recommend for families as language was offensive and behaviour aggressive.

Location felt dodgy but the room price reflected this. Basic and old.

Loved history wood tv and wee closet. Staff lovely. Fridge wasnt cold had to b turned on. Rd parking was frustrating as had to be paidvevery 4 hrs in day...and seemed unsafe at night. As did early check in havibg no lockedvroom for lugage to store.. wifi and lical resturant info was great.
Fiona, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

We loved the balcony room.
Sandra, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The place was perfect for my goal: walking distance to the Forum. Clean bed, hot water, historical building, high ceillings, different from other places check-in method. This place has a character. Despite arriving late and checking out earlier than usually expected from guests hours the staff ladies made it work for me smoothly. Thank you!
Elena, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

This place is good for someone who doesn't want to sleep at night. It was impossible to sleep anything. This place is a hotel & bar. From 9pm till next morning 7am there was a loud music. If people want to have a quiet lovely night definitely do not go to this place! Also, the Hotel doesn't have own carpark. You have to find on street.
ZOLTAN, 1-night trip

no free parking - watch out for clearway road restrictions local council has over zelous contactor parking wardens - you have been warned!!
