I had a cabin for ‘a family of five’ - two double rooms and a well-equipped lounge room and kitchenette with a small back deck looking onto the mountains - everything was absolutely spotless, the staff were so friendly, and the owner even dropped me and my luggage at the railway station upon my departure!
The only minor issues were the lack of screen doors or windows (with a lot of blowflies around), and the beds are pretty soft. If you like that kind of thing.
The cabins were like older but renovated rooms with new carpet, paint, shower and kitchenette; fully equipped kitchen, medium fridge, microwave, flatscreen TV; dining table with four chairs, three-seater sofa and a couple of lounge chairs. Both bedrooms have built-ins and bedside table, the smaller with Mountain views, the larger facing the front (parking area) with blackout curtains.
I will definitely be staying here again next time I’m in Kaikoura!
