The staff was very friendly and the hotel was immensely clean. However, it's very old a dated. Nonetheless, I would stay again and the food and drinks were stellar!!

Hotel was wonderful....some areas are being remodeled but no construction noise.....staff was friendly and most of them were helpful......Suggest that younger or new staff employees learn about the area so guest will not have to go to the hotel computer to find where churches are, or other areas of sightseeing........or maybe a visitor info or direction sheet could be available for the guests

If you are just wanting to stay close to the airport with free shuttle and free shuttle to the train station, this is a great place. No complimentary breakfast and breakfast didn't open until 9:00 a.m. . Room needs a ceiling fan. Very stale air. They did have a square floor fan electric but it made noise. Sophie's Station in Fairbanks, AK is a wonderful place to stay with all the major features we require, for example it is a very safe, quiet, and clean hotel with Zach's restaurant serving delicious meals both at brunch and dinner hours. We saw locals coming in for both meals. The transportation both pickup at the Airport and when we left was on time and very friendly. I’m so torn on this review. I called the hotel for their free shuttle service and asked if we could be picked up at the airport and was met with a heavy sigh and “uhhh, maybe. Hold on.” I was nervous that they wouldn’t get us based on the annoyed tone. They did send the shuttle and the driver was great. When we got there I asked if early check-in was possible and the same girl from the phone smirked and said “probably not.” She then said it would be $54 to check in early. This policy is not her fault, but she wasn’t friendly either. I realize nobody is guaranteed free or early check-in, but I have never come across a hotel that wouldn’t just let you check in before 4pm when the room was ready. Which it was. But only for a cost? The room itself was $386/night, which I think is on the high end and not amazing considering the dated nature. One bed was comfortable and one bed felt like a 900lb man was jumping on it for a year (room 147 bed by the bathroom - try it you’ll see). Pillows were great. It was truly super clean. All of the other staff during our stay were lovely. The lounge was tasty, but only had one server for the whole place, so it took us 1.5 hours to get drinks and a few appetizers, but that wasn’t her fault. So I’m torn. 95 % great humans and really great things about the hotel, but also way too overpriced for the brown decor of the 80’s, an unfriendly start, and that bed! It’s also in a not charming area between grocery stores. Convenient yet unappealing.

Our room was not ready at the check in time and we were told twice to come back. Upon entering our room on the bottom floor, it immediately smelled as though it had been smoked in at some point. The room was extremely outdated and the beds, couch and chair were all extremely hard- even my children noticed it right away. The hard beds led to terrible sleep for my family. Dark decor. No allowance for late check-out and there was construction on the road leading into the hotel which led to many detours. No breakfast included. The one redeeming quality was the kitchen in the room. I would choose another property next time, with breakfast included and updated decor - and hopefully newer beds.

The room was clean but no maid service for at least a four day stay. The temperature in the room was extremely difficult to control—- very, very warm and only one a/c in the bedroom. Sitting room was uncomfortably warm. Granted the weather was warm outside, but there was little ventilation possibilities.
