St Elmo is a quintessential Ouray hotel.

Well restored, maintained hotel, very welcoming and comfortable. The people were friendly. Hotel is on the main street and everything was within walking distance.

We usually travel to Ouray after Christmas each year, first time staying at St Elmo hotel, we absolutely loved it!! It’s a beautiful antique/vintage style hotel, lots of history! The housekeeper was super friendly & the rooms very clean. They have free breakfast each morning with eggs, homemade grits, pancakes, the works!!! It was so good, served fresh by their amazing cook!! We will definitely stay here next Christmas!!

Very comfortable and quiet. Could use a few maintenance touches (lights, fans) to make sure everything working properly. Great breakfast and nice staff!

Charming St Elmo

The hotel had such character and elegance and was such a comfortable and peaceful place to stay. We loved our beautiful room, breakfast was delicious and we spent a memorable two days in beautiful Ouray.

I stayed here Christmas Eve and Christmas night! It was magical, it snowed. I felt like I was in a Hallmark movie. The woman who cleans and cooks was so friendly barely saw anybody else. The breakfast was really good. I love historical hotels, and this one was very comfortable, and I liked it a lot.

Property was like staying at an old time hotel was like staying in an old western movie hotel besides Wi-Fi you are totally disconnected in ur room very relaxing.

Liked the layout of the room(s). The bed was very comfortable, however, I have knee problems and had to have help getting up into it. Had Keurig Coffee Maker in room - no coffee pods, only two mugs (room sleeps 6 and they knew there were 5 of us). No sugar. End of hall community coffee maker - very few coffee pods. No cups. The private patio was fantastic. Loved it, we had a very enjoyable evening. The breakfast was wonderful. The lady making the breakfast was very accomodating.

6/10 Good

Very nice Victorian decor. Nice reception & staff pleasant. Be ready to go back in time. Room very very small. Poor insulation between rooms since you can hear others talking easily. Old building but needs some renovations. Squeeky stairs. Super friendly reception for breakfast.

Historical but no air conditioning Andy it was uncomfortable at night even with fans and windows open

A very loud place to try to sleep, but otherwise a place of rich history. You do feel like you are sleeping at your grandma's house with the sounds and smells. I spent a considerable time choosing just the right room and was given one that was entirely different. The room was still ok but we would have enjoyed the experience more had we been given the room we had chosen.

Understanding that this property was built in the late 1880s does flavor my opinion. However, lacking air conditioning or a functioning fan made our stay very uncomfortable. Couple that with the light intrusions coming from the lobby (our room was the right off the main door and lobby), we were unable to get a good night sleep. For the rate we paid ($450 ) for one night, I expected a bit more. Again, I understand this is a historic property in a beautiful area of the country. Just hoped it would have been more comfortable for the money.

We were excited to stay at this historic hotel in early August. Unfortunately, the historical aspect of the hotel also includes a lack of air conditioning. We were provided with a box fan, but it was little help when the windows had no screens and therefore couldn't be opened overnight to cool the room down. The bathroom in the standard room was so small that we banged our elbows on the walls when we tried to move around. The bed was very creeky and old, with no sheet on the boxspring. We had high hopes for this hotel, but unfortunately, we will not be returning in the future.
Allison, 3-night trip

Cool 19th century hotel, right in the middle of town. Walk everywhere. The only complaint I had was the beds. They sag in the middle, which isn't a problem if you're alone. They should probably be platform beds. The hotel was retrofitted with en suite bathrooms, obviously. But everything works! Parking on the street right out front was no problem. Very secure and really pretty.
