Our experience was luxurious and delightful. The staff were so kind and helpful they made sure we had everything we needed. Dinner at Varma was a special experience. We loved having a visit from Pumba, the sweetest host cat. Brunch was also excellent with many delicious offerings. We enjoyed making our own waffles.

Fantastic stay under the northern lights

Could not recommend this place highly enough. The check in was quick and the front desk attendant walked me to my room. The rooms all had a view of the river that runs behind the hotel and the mountain that overlooks it. Dinner at the restaurant was great. And the outdoor hot tub was a great place to relax and enjoy the northern lights

This is a quaint boutique hotel set by a river with lovely views. We had a full week of adventure, and this was a relaxing spot to end our stay. We enjoyed the hot tubs, sauna, and relaxation room. All were calming and peaceful. We opted for the budget room which was very small (as expected) but sufficient for two people and a couple of pieces of luggage. I would recommend this spot for sure!

WENDY, 1-night trip

Don’t book this place if you are looking for a pool. The pool doesn’t work and based on the reviews it hasn’t be working for a while. We booked this hotel because we wanted a pool so it was disappointing. We loved everything else about the place. We saw northern lights and the scenery and walking trails are great! Hot tubs were great as well.

Beautiful unique location in a valley along a river surrounded by steaming mountains. On site restaurant was fabulous with some of the dishes cooked in the hotels hot spring. Service was excellent. The facilities seemed a little run down but clean. Pool was out of service but hot pots were excellent.

Beautiful location and wonderful rooms! The staff was incredibly accommodating when our rental car had a flat tire. They helped us greatly by assisting us with pumping the tire and gave us directions to a local auto shop. Thank you!!

This was a great place to stay. The room was very nice and the staff was very welcoming. Great restaurant with some meals cooked over a hot spring. Their hot tubs have a gorgeous view of the river, hill, and steam from the neighbor’s hot spring. This would be the perfect spot to watch the northern lights from.
Stephanie, 2-night trip

Property is absolutely beautifully located on the river with gorgeous views. To be able to sit in the thermal heated hot tubs along the river is such a treat. The restaurant has amazing food!
Ingrid, 1-night trip

one of our favorite hotels anywhere. Hot springs, fantastic views of natural landscape uncluttered by junk.
Susan Ott, 2-night trip

This is an older motel/hotel and in a busy season it would probably be noisy. we had rooms near the reception & we’re pleased. The New Year’s Eve buffet was great but the sauna was lukewarm

Andrea, 1-night trip

A unique hotel with bedrooms and outdoor hot tub facing north so you can watch the northern lights from the hotel. At the edge of town with resteraunt and bedroom view over river and smoking hills from the local hot springs. The breakfast was amazing and staff helpful. We dined in the resteraunt a few times during our stay. The food is amazing but a little pricey. Much like all icelandic resteraunts. Some beautiful walks around the area. Would definately stay here again.
Carol, 7-night trip

This place is beautiful. The staff is amazing. The room is romantic and very clean. The breakfast was also amazing. Very unique location next to springs.
