There were a couple of roaches but not unexpected for Australia. It was quite hot with only a fan in the room and the bathroom smelled weird but not too bad a place for the price.

The reception lady was very nice and helpful. A train station just near by so very convenient. Some nice food and grocery stores near the bus stops also not far away.

Checked in after hours, room was unsafe, drug addicts outside and room was ground floor with a window that wouldn’t close. Unable to talk to anyone due to after hours check in.

On flight path. Some guests not always mindful of the main doors closing noisily during the night. Insufficient lighting to illuminate outside entrance stairs.

Great hostel to stay in.
Only issues were fan not working in private double room and a god awful mattress that had springs digging into you when you lay down. Only had to deal with it for one night but could be problematic for others

The whole property needs a huge makeover, as it is very dated and basic. A lot of the contents of the room (TV, cupboard, bed-with stained pillows), and bathroom (shower curtains, even the soap dispenser had a broken top!), had things that were broken and needed to be replaced. And I was shocked to see cockroaches in the bedroom and bathroom. The only redeeming thing the property has is a great manager in Cathy and the lovely 'security guard' Dion. You need to spend some money and do up one room at a time and make it somewhere you'd want to come and stay at.

It was great to receive a message on how to gain access the lodge after reception business hours. But bitterly disappointed with my room position. I mentioned that I was leaving very early the next day (5am) then to find that my room was directly adjacent to the outside table and chairs common area. I could not get to sleep until everyone had left the area in and around 11pm!
Very disappointed I myst say!

During the sleep time, really noisy to hear those people who walked to the corridor and close the door , cabinet and showering. The sound proof is so bad . It made me can’t sleep all night by those very loud noise. Won’t be a nice place to sleep,

The good
- Beds were comfy enough, but not outsatnding
- Relatively cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for
- Near to stanmore train station so transportation is easy and cheap into the CBD
- Near to enmore restaurants which have every type of cuisine you could want at affordable prices
- Wifi is fast enough to stream tv shows/films, but you'll need to log in every time you connect to it (for whatever reason if I was connected to it for "too long" the wifi would get slow)
The not so good
- Unclean, a cockroach was in my room and another was in the kitchen. People washed pots and pans but didn't put them away & the hobs would get filthy
- No lockers to lock items away so you're hoping nobody in your room steals from you
- Timers on lights in bathrooms says they're 15 minutes but they actually turn off after 10 & one of the lights in the bathroom just stopped working
- The smoke from people smoking weed/cigs outside of the entrance ended up coming into the room if you kept the window open....
- ....which you had to as there was no a/c, only a floor fan which was broken but semi functioning; alongside a ceiling fan which was also broken and non-functioning
- Lack of plug sockets for half of the room, so I had to use my portable battery to charge my phone as there were no extension cables in the room

All is good, except the toilet light and exhaust fan that switch off automatically (~15mins), so bring your own light into the toilet. Would have been better to replace with a motion sensors instead of using timer.
Street parking is hard to find during the after school period ~3pm, when parents are waiting. It also get full at night. Would have been better to allow guest to use the parking lot in the back yard.

The advertised place states it has parking on site and that it’s included which is not the case. Parking is on the street. This needs to be made clear as it is misleading.
This is why I assumed the price was so high, I know it’s the city but there are cheaper places that offer more for your money. The whole place felt really uncomfortable. The door to my room and the windows has no lock. I would’ve felt safer sleeping in the bathroom that had a lock. $131 wasted. Communication via text. I drove back home and didn’t stay the night

So disappointed in our stay that we left a day early. This is a classic case of pictures are a hundred times better than the accommodation, considering the price per night of this I would have expected more.
On night one I placed a shampoo lid on the bathroom shower floor and by day three it was still there, clearly showing the communal shower had not been cleaned at all. Everything was broken, cracked electrics hanging out gf the wall- it was pretty poor.
The room was covered in ants, and our window didn’t lock and over looked a communal patio, nothing was safe, everything was broken. To top it all off there was a screaming baby for the entirety of the time.
I would recommend booking somewhere else, location was nice though and staff pleasant enough, the owner of this place needs to spend some money and actually do it up.
