Oaktown Roost is a great budget-friendly spot in the heart of Oakland. It’s easy to access, well-located, and has just enough charm to make it memorable. The building has character, and while it can be noisy at night, they provide earplugs—a small but thoughtful touch.
The common area is cozy and well-designed, with couches, a pool table, and really solid coffee (served there, not in your room). The bed was comfy, the shower hot—though the water pressure could be better.
Communication from the staff was excellent. For the price, it’s a solid stay with all the basics covered and a few nice surprises. Five stars for value and vibe.
