Nice

Nice location, our room was adjoining and the ppl next door were very noisy which ruined it a bit. Nice breakfast room was ok but a bit dated. Nice staff

6/10 Good

It is a room above a pub so expected a bit of noise but as it was hot we had to keep the window open, no fans etc. The room was clean but dated and could do with some maintenance. Breakfast, as others have suggested, is very limited with strict one of anything ie one hot beverage, one glass of orange, etc.

Amazing part of England, great hotel in a quaint little village. Convenient for the Minack theatre and a place we will stay again.

All staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were large and clean. There was a variety of delicious food at the hotel and also other options outside. Parking was in a free park a short walk from the hotel which was safe.

staff very friendly. We were even able to check in early. Though the town is a bit off the beaten path, there was bus service we used to visit two towns. I will definitely be back

Average Hotel

Very old type room, tap water was too hot, need some maintenance require, nothing near from this hotel, they are very slow, and it is bit expansive and no facility’s there, Evan in hot weather they doesn’t have fan, and no customer service, and no room service, would rather book other hotels. This is simply bed & breakfast room like small old motel not hotel.
Darshanaben, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Room was poorly maintained, and I encountered spiders on the bed. Despite raising the issue multiple times, there was no room service. Additionally, the hotel lacked designated parking. The only positive aspect of my stay was the good breakfast

A pleasant stay

The rooms were comfortable and clean, The food was excellent. The bar was very busy in the evening. The Wellington Hotel is an old building with charm. your booking in at the bar. We had two rooms one was inside the main building and the other was in a separate building at the back on the same grounds. There was no parking on site and only short-term parking out the front, but at a five-minute walk, you will find 24hr free parking car park.

The rooms here are above the pub which is a bit basic. The room was large and bright but approached by steep stairs, difficult if you have any mobility issues. Breakfast was restricted by it's limited choice and limited items. Service however was prompt, rather better than many large establishments. As a budget option in a hub location the Wellington was a good choice.

1 night stay on tour

We stayed as a group of friends for the one night only on a motorcycling tour of Cornwall. The Pub was tired and obviously a locals pub. The room was off the courtyard and again was very tired and would not have wanted to stay in winter as I would imagine it would be very cold. The shower worked well. There was a kettle and coffee but we decided against drinking coffee as the inside of the kettle was very old and covered in black scale! It served the purpose but would not stay there again

Business Trips

Staff are friendly, bar was very lively which made the atmosphere great but it seemed to get louder the later it got. Not good when you need to sleep, On arrival I was directed to my room not shown, The room had no towels. but when requested they arrived, No Milk in the room again had to request it. I was a bit disappointed that the room had no shower gel or shampoo, for £125 a night it should do, Breakfast was average. I didn’t eat an evening meal so I can not comment on the food. As a bonus it did have a games room available if you are up for that or have kids with you.

Children playing outside our room. Smokers talking outside in the yard. The room was beyond tatty. Bed/mattress was old. Shower was old and leaked. Breakfast was ok but no marmalade, no fruit but full breakfast was cooked and served ok. The only good point was the bed linen looked fresh, pressed and clean. Never again ......

Tired and Bizarre

Entering the front door with broken pane of glass, boarded, over set the scene. Has had a number of Managers in recent years and getting more tired. Bring your own shower gel or shampoo, as none supplied in the bathroom, although mould was in plentiful supply. Toilet permanently dribbling water, bath tap broken, TV only turned on at the wall to ITV. Remote not working. Evening meal was fine. Breakfast menu with a whole paragraph about the Cost of Living Crisis and other crisis. Choice of tea, coffee OR orange juice, then full English with deep fried sausage OR porridge (in July?) No cereals. Skipped it second day.

I wish I could say my stay at this hotel was memorable for the right reasons, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. Let's start with the room—the carpet smelled like it had been borrowed from a nursing home, with a distinct aroma of dampness and stale urine that was hard to ignore. To make matters worse, there was mould on the bathroom ceiling, which did little to enhance the experience. On the upside, the location is excellent, and the breakfast food was quite good. However, even that had its downside. Breakfast is supposedly served between 08:00 and 09:00, but when we arrived at 08:14, our food didn’t appear until 09:10, with drinks showing up a full five minutes before. That's nearly an hour wait for a meal in the morning—not exactly the kind of start to the day I was hoping for. All in all, this hotel needs more than a bit of TLC before I'd consider staying again.

2/10 Poor

I have been throughout the world with Hotels.com and was treated with the utmost decency, respect and kindness by the hotel staff and sadly it’s the first time ever that I am writing such a negative review about the uncouth, course, unprofessional manager at this hotel. She is a DISGRACE to this excellent hotel with the stunning room. I was gutted at her behaviour. Can u believe what that clown did. I ordered a curry and a spoon did not accompany it. Dr Pilcher who is the most amazing human being on the planet was visibly shaken and mortified by her behaviour. He left his food and went and asked her for a spoon and she very rudely demanded that he tell her “please.” Now instead of permanently sitting in that corner screeching with laughter and making a complete fool of herself, her duty was to reprimand her staff for their inefficiency in not providing a spoon. It’s the first time I saw him so embarrassed and complaining. He always see the best in people. She spoilt his holiday mood. Also she made us pay for an upgrade which I didn’t mind but all the hotels upgrade us to top suites for free because I am a valued client of Hotels.com. She very rudely told me , “Well that room is more expensive. I paid £125 but she wanted £10 more which I gladly gave her. It’s obvious that the woman got no class or the sophistication needed to deal with people. It was the most horrible experience ever to deal with someone so cheap. I was wondering what she gets paid for. She did nothing,

On the plus side, our bedroom was clean as was the bathroom. Similarly, the member of staff who, seemingly on her own, served everyone at breakfast was brisk and efficient. The breakfast options were somewhat limited and the table menu was very prescriptive in asking that no more than one glass of juice or one cup of tea/coffee be taken. The food itself was perfectly adequate. There were a number of negatives, not least no personal toiletries in our room. The main negative was the fact that it was impossible to get a good night's sleep. There was loud thumping music going on until near midnight and then there was conversation outside as people who had been listening to the music did not disperse for another hour or so. At one point, gone 11.00pm, I went downstairs to ask when the music might be stopping as we could not get to sleep. I was told "We have a licence till 12.00". There was no apology, no expression of concern, nothing at all supportive. I really feel that if a hotel is going to let out rooms when it is playing music till almost midnight, it should make it clear on its website and should endeavour to provide a degree of soundproofing. We had paid in advance for three nights but such was our "sleep" problem that we checked out after just one day. The manager was sympathetic, but made no offer of recompense in regard to the two nights we were foregoing, not that he had a legal obligation to do so, but I feel he had a moral responsibility to make some offer.
