Disappointing visit

Disappointing experience. The reasons where: First, I always book hotels with a fittnes room as part of my "need to" list. The fitness room in this hotel was "unfortunately" under renovation for 2 months and therefore not available. It was not mentioned anywhere when booking the hotel and the hotel staff was simply indifferent to the lack of fitness room. Secondly, the alleged SPA which was also part of the reason we booked this hotel, was also a disappointment. It was simply a SPA in a room and a sauna. Furthermore, the use required additional payment which would have been acceptable if it was an inviting experience. Thirdly, the breakfast was nowhere near a 5* star experience. It should be somewhere between 3 to 4 stars. The food was reasonable enough but there was a very limited choice of foods. (no vegetables, no eggs, almost no fruit, etc.) In addition, we dined at the Michelin restaurant. The restaurant was not close to being at the level of a Michelin restaturant except for the price. Several dishes were uninteresting without much flavour. Since the waiter spoke no English whatsoever we did get presentation of the dishes and wine and several times we were not served wine before the dish. All in all a disappointing visit to an alleged 5 star hotel. Luckily Normandy is a very nice place and certainly worth the visit.

Lovely hotel with a fantastic restaurant. Stayed one night. Had tasting menu lunch that was paired with different wines. We had an exceptional meal with great service at the table. Breakfast was also a delight. The night watchman even served us a calvados after we returned from the SM Caen match vs St-Etienne at midnight. Highly recommended.

The standout part was the service - such friendly staff who are very accommodating. The room was large and well equipped and whilst the car park is small we managed to secure a space for all the days we were there. Bonus!: there’s also a cat!

While the room itself was pretty nice, the decoration with a lot of taste...., I must say that this hotel falls short of a five-star experience; I would rate it as a three-star establishment, at most. For example, Although they advertise 24-hour room service, it is nonexistent. The shower was leaking so significantly that I almost had to turn it off, and the room cleaning was average. The most disappointing aspect was the self-service breakfast—the food was utterly tasteless and unappetizing. Based on my experience, I will not be booking this hotel again.

The room was amazing. Very comfortable and roomy. Staff was very good. Breakfast is highly recommended - it was a good selection and high quality. My only complaint is that the room had an amazing bathtub but on the two occasions that I tried to take a bath there was only enough hot water for about 4 inches of the bathtub. Pretty disappointing as I'm a real bath person.

We visited the WW1 and WW2 sites and cemeteries in Normandy area. Hotel was conveniently located to the areas we visited. The room was a decent size and well equipped. The hotel and facilities were very clean and well kept. The Michelin rated restaurant in the hotel was a wonderful dining experience. Don’t miss your chance to dine in an excellent environment. Book your reservation when you check in. I recommend “la selection de rapas en toute confiance”. An excellent 5 days in Caen.

From the moment we arrived the staff was outstanding. Friendly. Accommodating. I made an error in booking and they fixed it even though they didn’t have to. Parking is free and easy. Go to dinner...it's worth every euro

When we first got there we checked in and then wanted to have a drink at the bar. At first it seemed like a one man show, and it took a while, but it worked out fine. The room was nice enough and clean...the shower in our room was different..the hose and shower head were closer to the bathtub faucet, and the easiest way to shower was to sit in the bathtub. Another funny thing is how tall the toilet was, but it was all nice and clean and workable. My favorite part of the stay was our dinner experience. The food is amazing and the wine pairing was perfect.

The property is located about a 25 minute walk away from Caen city centre. The surrounding area is very quiet and safe with lots of delicious patisseries very close by ( highly recommend trying). The room has everything you need, is very comfortable, clean and air-conditioned. The hotel has an area for workouts, with 3 pieces of aerobic equipment. This room is not like a normal gym, it is carpeted with chairs and tables in ( presumably for those waiting to use the spa?) with no ac ( that I found). But can easily do a workout in there. The hotel has private parking. The hotel offers a buffet breakfast, which has everything youd expect from a continental breakfast. The staff are all lovely and very welcoming. Highly recommend.
