OK but don’t pay for “Gran” Ultonia

There are two hotels here - the 4 star ‘Gran’ Ultonia and the regular 3 star Ultonia. I paid for a Gran Ultonia room but realised after the first night I’d been placed in a regular Ultonia room. Not the end of the world but no real point in paying for the nicer hotel and room since it seems you can end up in a more basic room anyway.

Ideally situated for short walk to old town (5 mins) one way and main shopping area the other. Walkable to rail / bus station (10 min on foot) and quick access to motorway for short journey to airport (20 mins/ 35 euros by taxi) . Rooms basic but very clean, powerful shower, comfortable beds and quiet. Efficient air conditioning. Lovely roof terrace for drinks and tapas.

Good value and great location

Very well appointed hotel in a great area for visiting central and old town Girona. Very helpful staff. Good value for money. Breakfast buffet everything you’d expect and good sections for special dietary needs. Car park is convenient and secure but has some pretty tight bends which may be difficult in a larger car. We found the hotel a little hard to locate on google maps when approaching in a car.

I enjoyed my stay. Room was clean with excellent air conditioning. Staff very helpful and professional. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room but as I dont drink them it had no impact on my stay. There was a fridge with drinks and snacks at very reasonable prices which was great. We spend 1 night in Hoyel Gran Ultonia in Girona. Its located in the city enter so its not that easy to park your car. All in all very clean and friendly staff. Especially the man working the reception. I recommand this hotel for people on busines or ig your looking for a night sleep while driving yo your vacation destination. If you want to spend a week with kids on the Spanish coast I would go for a different hotel. car

I would definitely stay here again however they play the same repetitive music over and over every single day and night in the bar and in reception. We loved the cocktail bar but couldn't stay for more that a couple of drinks as the repetitive music was torture. No music would have been better. Please please do something about this and make the cocktail bar an enjoyable place. The staff throughout the hotel and cocktail bar especially were brilliant. Such a shame about the repetitive torture music.

No way on God’s green earth is this a 4-star hotel maybe a 2 on a very generous day! It’s basically a fancy youth hostel they even provide plastic cups in the room for that authentic “budget chic” vibe. The rooms are like being sent down a mine dark and gloomy. We’d requested a bathtub (doctor’s orders for my ankle) and were told it was guaranteed. Guess what? Just a shower! A whole painful disappointment, literally. Apparently, they “tried calling me all Saturday” to say another room was available… yet my call log says otherwise. To be fair, the lovely female receptionist did her best to help. But the male receptionist? Oh dear. His comments about us being “from the UK” didn’t exactly warm our Irish hearts — big no-no there, lad! Over €200 a night for this? RIP-OFF BIG TIME! I was promised a refund but nothing just more like lie the phone calls , bath tub and the paid bot reviews And the icing on the cake? The smell. It hits you the second you walk in — possibly wafting in from the portable loo outside. Yikes! Even wakes you up in the morning. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. Girona is a lovely town just pick a hotel where you can actually enjoy your weekend instead of surviving it.
