Vintage, clean & great location!
The location was fantastic! The establishment has been restored amazingly. Check in was easy, once the code worked for our door. No elevators and we were on the third floor, so we brought up only what we needed for the night. It was clean, quiet and our bed was comfortable. Location is great, walkable to the boardwalk and restaurants.

Worst service I've ever experienced - felt unsafe
Do not stay here - Staff (Carmen) is rude and belligerent. We did not feel safe and kept a suitcase against the door
- When we experienced issues with the door keypad and called for assistance, Carmen berated us over the phone. It took us about 15 min trying to get in before we managed it
- She met us inside and and went over the rules. She asked me to pay a deposit and when I approached her she chastised me for wearing my shoes
- When we asked where our room was she said the door labelled one,... we asked where room one was again and she yelled "the door with the 1 on it" and then stormed off. After searching around we found where the rooms were.
We were extremely uncomfortable her during our stay. It was not enjoyable.

This is a delightful small hotel. Our room on the top floor was very comfortable and the bathroom remodel was well-designed and executed. We were well treated by friendly staff and fed a scrumptious breakfast. We enjoyed walking the nearby boardwalk and eating in the nearby pub, entertained by live music. I heartily recommend the hotel.

Old, well maintained place with creaky floors. Lots of old Knick knacks and decorations. Not my favourite type of place to stay as you have to be very quiet to not disturb other guests. Woman was not very helpful on check-in when we asked about the ferry. Bit of complicated door key system.

WORST EVER - AVOID
This was the worst experience I have ever had with any accommodation. The service was shockingly terrible.
Check in: The property did not send me check-in information. I had to call them on arrival and ask for it. After I finally got it, I couldn't get into the property, I called them and texted them and they didn't respond at all. It took me about 30min to figure out how to get access because the instructions were not clear.
That night: This property said that it includes parking. All the parking spaces were full. I messaged them asking where to park. They didn't reply. I did not end up getting a parking space that night.
Next day: I had booked breakfast with my stay. The sign in the lobby said breakfast 7am - 9am. I went down at 7am - no one there. I went back at 8:30am - no one there. I had to phone them.
Then they told me that I hadn't paid for breakfast, even though I had. I told them clearly that I had checked a box for an extra fee when I booked to pay for breakfast. And they kept telling me that I hadn't paid for it and refusing to serve me. I showed the woman a screenshot of my hotels.com booking that said "Amenities included: Full breakfast" and she still insisted that I hadn't paid.
I chatted with hotels.com support, who confirmed that I HAD in fact paid for the breakfast with my booking. Hotels.com emailed the property. By the time this was done it was close to 9am and then they refused to serve me saying that it was too late to serve me the breakfast.

Disgusting treatment
The second I set eyes on the proprietor of this hotel (it is an old house) I sensed that trouble may be lurking in my near future. This turned out to be true.
Her manner upon greeting me was theatrical and somewhat girlish such that I felt some discomfort. She insisted on some rules, specifically the importance of removing one’s shoes at the front door and the importance of keeping the front door locked at all times. My wife and I were happy to oblige with these stipulations. There were limited normal owner-guest interactions for the rest of the evening.
The next morning I stepped out of our room into the corridor where I ran into the owner. I said good morning and then saw that she had been crying. Her face was flushed with anger. She shouted some garbled sentences, which I think were meant to indicate that her rules had not been followed. I asked her what was wrong. More shouting and then she disappeared up a flight of stairs. I was stunned. I went outside to our car where my wife was waiting and described what had happened.
However, more was to come. The owner was now marching towards our car, shouting a truly foul-mouthed series of allegations about us not following her rules. At this point, given her hostility and her proximity to my wife, I thought about calling the police. However, thankfully, she turned around and marched back to her hotel (still screaming at us).
Expedia should delist this establishment.
