What a beautiful place. The town center which were you’re supposed to go to check in was a little difficult to find but other than that we loved our stay

Everything was great except had to check in at a different location about 1/4 mile away, never experienced that before. Room was large, very comfortable beds and nice location

The architecture of the lodge is very authenthic, especially the lobby. The rooms were spacious with nice lakeview. Overall very family friendly and relaxing environment.

2/10 Poor

Split rock lodge sucks.

There was no one to register us and we had to go to a different location to check in. Hot tub and pool were filthy. There was no breakfast included but said there was in description. There were no wash cloths in room, AC did not work well at all, stated at 70 degrees. There was no restaurant at property that was clean and open. The lake was unable to be used.

I feel like this was a memorial day weekend and they could have prepared better. Water park 2 rides out of 3 were down, also the bucket was down. Also they don't let you check in before 4pm if you get there early, but you are able to use all the amenities. There are showers, changing rooms and bathrooms.

The Hot Tub Water Came out Brown you could scrape the grime on the sides with your nails. We had 2 Towels for 3 people and none at the pool area and there wasn’t anyone in the Lodge. I think we were the only ones in the whole place. It was Sunday on Fathers Day. Every Bar & Restaurant in the entire Lodge was also closed . We went to the Town Square at 7:45 and all food venues were closed. We were literally the only people at Breakfast when they set up and it was cold / the coffee was the same from the night before. This is just the highlights - I want my money back.

Beautiful view but Shocking

Someone got into our room while we were all sleeping and put a breakfast plate inside the room. Scary and not acceptable! We didn't ask for any breakfast. We were shocked. The door was closed.

Big mistake

This was terrible - we checked in and checked right out. It was difficult to figure out where to check in and once we found that building, our stay was in another building that had no staff - no one was at the front desk, there were no elevators( room was on the third floor!). We found a security guard and he directed us how to get to the room. There was no hot water and the room phone didn’t work. The building was empty. This was Split Rock Lodge, don’t go there - you will be disappointed. Very old decor, dirty rugs- nothing close to what is advertised.

Overall good

Staff were all very nice. Restaurant on direct property was closed. Was difficult to find and once we did, needed to go to other property location to check in. Would have been helpful to know that before. Pool heater wasn’t working. Hot tub was good, room was clean, breakfast was good. Beautiful view of lake. Overall good, just seems like the property could use a little upgrading

No staffing - there are 2 hotels, this one is very old, 3 floors, like out of The Shining - we had to drive to Town Center location to even check in. No ice, vending machine didn’t work, and at check in we were given a “Boil Water” notice, and had to drive to a store to get any bottled water. The indoor pool was ice cold, not heated. They let us swim at the other location where it was heated and had an arcade. Definitely haunted. Old wood and smelly hallway carpet, but the room itself was refurbished and nice, with a view of the lake, lake is green and has problems. Hot tub had no floor supports, almost went through the floor trying to get in it. Will NOT return….it was our anniversary and we had previously asked specifically about the pool temperature….stay away!

Not like the pictures

When we booked, the pictures made this look like somewhere we would want to swim and hang out by the water. The lagoon is very murky. There's not really a beach that you would want to spend time on. When you go to check in, there's a sign saying to drive somewhere else (the Town Center) to check in. It's a bit away. The Lodge, where we were, was very outdated. It really needs a makeover. Several other guests made comments like, "bet this was booming in the 80's." The actual rooms were very nice. The bathroom and main room were updated and clean. The AC worked, although our bed did not have a blanket or comforter. I asked for one the 2nd day and they had to look for one. My wife was shivering the 1st night. Breakfast was ok. The Mexican restaurant was not good. A nearly $30 per person buffet for dinner was similar to a college cafeteria quality, although I think most colleges would do better. Nothing was very good and the drinks weren't great, either. It wasn't bad enough to leave, but for multiple hundreds a night, it certainly wasn't worth the cost. Not sure where some glowing reviews came from. Maybe we're just used to Hilton resort quality.

Reminiscent of the Redrum hotel

First, the hotel has a different name. So if you google it to travel there you have to figure out that you're looking for Split Rock instead of "The Lodge Luxury Resort at Lake Harmony", but that name also refers to a place down the road which is very confusing. At the check in desk there is no desk clerk, just a sign saying to drive to Split Rock (no directions on how to get there) and then a different sign has the address scribbled in pen. Its a few miles to the Resort to check in. You can't swim right now because the lake water is needs treatment, but you can rent a kayak/canoe (as if I would want to canoe in bad water). The room was very clean, but the fake wood wallpaper on the ceiling was peeling off and although the lobby has had some updates, the rest of the place looks like it hasn't been touched since the nineties. The pool/hot tub were functional, just old. Everything is very old. Also at the continental breakfast another couple showed up and said they were relieved to see there was breakfast because a few days prior they had to tell the staff that they were supposed to have a breakfast, so they came up with one, but then the next day it wasnt there, so it was hit or miss on whether they had a breakfast available I guess. Very strange stay... but I will say the staff was helpful and friendly and everything although old was very clean so they have a good team there.

Some good and some bad/Beware- no elevators at lod

Check-in was not at the building we were staying in. Had a desk, but no one was there. Saw a sign that said to check in at another building, so we did that. Lake is not for swimming because of polluted water. All other lakes in the area are active with swimmers. They claimed it was because of the rain water. Didn't seem to effect other lodges in the area. The lodge itself had no elevators or handicap access. This was not mentioned when I made the reservations and it wasn't posted anywhere on site. Anyone off the road could come in and wander around. It did not seem to have any noticeable security. Called the front desk number provided and no one answered. I was able to leave a message, but that was useless, because no one ever called me back. Restaurants were fine; entertainment was fine; room and amenities were good. Very poor communication by the lodge's management.

Overall room & property is really nice but the check in is horrible. We had to check in different location then drive to where our room. We got lost on the way because the staff gave us incorrect info. Also no hair dryer in the room not very convenient. Overall I’m still happy but the check in needs improvement.

Beach closed-hot tub eww-waterpark nope-downgrade

We got there at 3:40 for a 4pm check-in & they kept telling us to come back in a little while because our room wasn't ready. After the 3rd attempt, I called and they put me on hold for over 20 minutes before I hung up and went back in a 4th time. This went on until about 5:30. When we finally did get our room, it wasn't the lake-view 2 queen bed room we booked, it was a single king room (with no sofa bed) for four of us to sleep in, overlooking the parking lot. They tried to confuse us at check-in by saying it was an upgrade with 2 kings, but what it ended up being was a second king room a few doors down-did they expect my 1-year old & 4-year old to sleep there by themselves? We did not use that room but by that point I was too exhaused to drive back over there & argue. Then we went outside to the lakeside beach, the whole reason that we were at the lodge at Split Rock, and it was closed for water saftey reasons. Another visitor told me it had been like this for 2 years-yet the 'resort' fails to mention. They also did not have clean drinking water in the main hotel. Ok, well i could still use the hot tub at least-nope, that was murky & yellow with a sign that it would be cleaned in 2 days. The sauna was also closed. The waterpark- which was another reason we came-had more than 50% of the equipment/areas out of order, including all of the water slides & splash park, but that didn't stop them from charging almost full price for passes. Sadly mismanaged :(

2/10 Poor

Extremely disappointed! Checking in was a hassle! We struggled to find the correct location since the address listed on Expedia wasn’t the actual check-in spot. Instead, we had to drive around the courthouse to find it. The safety of this place is highly concerning! The room door wouldn’t lock, and we had to barricade it with chairs while traveling with our two kids! Being a Pocono Mountain resort, they should be prepared for snow, but that wasn’t the case. We had to slide through the snow just to reach our cars. The front entrance wasn’t shoveled or salted, and neither was the parking lot. Many guests, including us, were stuck trying to leave, with cars slipping down the hill. One even crashed into the trees!!! When I called the front desk for help, they said they are aware of the situation and they were working on it! This was at 11 AM by checkout time and nothing had been done!!! It’s unacceptable ! They didn’t prioritize guests safety, especially families traveling with children!!!
