Avoid, Avoid, Avoid! I arrived at the hotel only to find they had no rooms left, despite that i had already booked and paid online. After a long while trying to explain this to a receptionist who spoke zero English, he put me onto his boss on the phone who spoke a little english. This character advised me to cancel my booking online so I would get my money back, and said he would arrange that I could stay at a nearby hotel called Agor.
I couldn't not find the Agor hotel and was left to wander the streets at 1 am looking for another room. There were a number of other hotels in the area, but all were full. This was very stressful, particularly as I was exhausted from my flight and panicking that I might have to sleep on the streets!
I eventually did find a room at another hotel at 2am. The next day, I learnt that the Agor had closed down some time ago. The person I spoke to on the phone at the Golden Hotel must have known this and lied simply to get rid of me. Also, I wasn't able to cancel my booking there as it was too late, and I didn't get my money back.
This was a really upsetting experience. Its disgusting that this establishment treats people in such a way. It is also worth noting that, though I didn't see a room inside the Golden, the building, the lobby and furnishings were very shabby and dirty, the other hotels I saw were much nicer.
