Covenient location. Good price
Michael, 3-night trip

Basic accomodation (a bed, a wall heater, a coat rack, an adjacent bathroom, and a shared kitchen) but well mantained, clean and comfortable. Excellecent value for the price.

We needed some reasonably priced accommodation that could also take our dog. The Bunkhouse was a great option. Great to have a private room and bathroom. Only three rooms in total meant it was pretty quiet (although the internal doors do bang quite loudly). The kitchen was fine, with a microwave for heating up food and plenty of crockery and utensils. We had great communication from the manager in advance of our stay.

Cannot recommend highly enough. A small en-suite room with 2 bunk beds for £36 a night - what is not to like. Sparklingly clean and access to kitchen with microwave and toaster. Rooms are newly designed with modern bathroom and one of the best showers I have had. Not much storage space, a bedside locker would have helped by providing a surface to utilise or even a shelf over the radiator. The photo is not the actual property- where is the alleyway on the right?

Great stop on the way back from north Scotland. The rooms were superb and the facilities were just fantastic

My second stay at this property. I felt that perhaps the servicing was not as good as the previous time.e.g. Washing up liquid empty for whole of my two day stay, toilet seat in bathroom was looose and needed fixing. There are only 3 rooms and 2 of them have no furniture apart from a bed in room 3, bunks and a chair in room 2 and bunks and drawers in room 1. There are wall hooks with a shelf above but so high as to be beyond my reach. No mirror even in room 3. There was a small alcove which would benefit from some shelves. The doors are very noisy which is a problem with late arrivals and the front door does not close easily which means it is often left ajar. I had trouble with releasing the front door key from its box and understand someone had the same problem the previous day. There is an emergency contact number but only available when you get inside. This should be in the email with the entry codes.

Wigtown Bunkhouse stay.

First time stay for three nights while visiting family. Vert clean throughout the hostel and updated to a high standard. Very nice ensuite shower room with towels provided which is good so you don't have to pack any. Comfortable bunk bed in the twin room we were in. It's a tiny hostel with only three bedrooms and the communal kitchen dinner but it has all the basics you need. It's also safe and secure because of the entry codes to the hostel itself as well as your room. It is dog friendly because one of the other guests had their sweet dog staying so that's a huge plus if you're looking for accommodation that accepts dogs. Hostel is right in Wigtown's main High Street with convenience of shops, cafes, pub etc but it was still quiet. Parking is not a problem on the High Street .Would definitely stay there again.

Not stayed in a hostel before so didn’t know what to expect , I was pleasantly surprised with the property , it was clean and nicely decorated with quality fixtures and fittings and nice friendly staff , and at a very low price , will certainly stay again if needed in the future .

Very simple property but had everything we needed. There is a chip shop next door, a shop a 2 min walk away and a pub right across the road and the locals were all very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

I like that it's run by a charity, Machar charity. There's everything you need here apart from staff but there's information to read. Very quiet. It's a very cool town

As we were leaving for the ferry, I felt rather guilty that the squeaky door hinges must have disturbed our fellow guests as we departed. A drop of oil would work wonders! A brilliant value place to stay

We were very impressed by this accommodation and felt the term ‘bunkhouse’ undervalues it. The caretaker was very welcoming, shops nearby make self catering easy. Comfortable bed, and nice clean bathroom. Anyone reading this can be assured that a reservation here will not disappoint.

Great value

I stayed at the bunkhouse for two nights when taking part in running events in Dumfries & Galloway. I chose it primarily on cost. It’s great value for a solo traveller and having a kitchen is a bonus. However, the bunk bed wasn’t very comfortable - very soft mattress and I could feel the springs - so I didn’t sleep particularly well.

We needed to stop over before catching the ferry, and this was an ideal stop. Very clean and adequate . Chip shop just a few shops away and a welcoming pub across the road, made it easy for us to deal with our onward journey.

Stay

Very clean Sadly the fire alarm went off for no apparent reason 😒

Very good value

Obviously recently refurbished. It was fresh, clean and very well located. A minor consideration was the bathroom was next door to the double room and the bedroom was on a key pad, it made me a bit anxious of getting locked out when going to the toilet in the night.

Lovely bunkhouse, could do with better cooking facilities it’s difficult to cook a meal using a microwave. Could have been provided with more glasses and china. We had to buy more glasses and mugs from the community shop.
