Very charming hotel

We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was lovely and the location is perfect. We booked an attic room, which I would do again, but just know that there is essentially only a bathtub because you cannot stand up to shower due to the slant of the ceiling. This was no problem for me because I enjoy baths.

We stayed in Nantes for 3 days during a tour of Northern France and I'm glad we chose the Voltaire Opera Hotel. The hotel is a short walk to city centre shopping and there are loads of great restaurants and bars close by. I would particularly recommend La Cigale restaurant for it's amazing food and art deco interior. The hotel staff are all welcoming and friendly and all spoke perfect English which was really helpful when we got our car locked into the nearby car park and didn't know who to contact to get it out. Thank you to the gentleman on reception who helped us! We will definitely stay here again when we're next in the area.

Great location but needs air-conditioning

The location in the center of Nantes is perfect for exploring the city on foot or by using some public transport. The front desk staff were very helpful. They gave me a map of the center of the city and pointed out places of interest. My only criticism was that my room had no air-conditioning only a fan to keep cool. It was a very hot night and I had a hard time sleeping because of the heat.

Hôtel très bien placé dans Nantes. A proximité immédiate de l'hypercentre (place de l'opéra) et proche de l'île des machines. Très bon accueil à la réception, plein de bons conseils. Chambre petite mais propre, literie confortable. Salle de bain fonctionnelle. Le point négatif : la rue sur laquelle donnait notre chambre était assez bruyante la nuit, surtout que nous dormions avec la fenêtre ouverte en raison de la chaleur. The hotel was in a great spot to explore downtown Nantes. The young lady at the desk was extremely helpful and friendly. And spoke very good English since my French is limited and poor. The only downside was due to it being in the city, parking can be stressful. We weren’t sure if we could temporarily park on the street to unload, but then we lucked out with a parking spot opening up on the street.

BEWARE - LAPTOP WAS STOLEN FROM THE ROOM

We checked in Hotel Voltaire Opera Nantes Centre on 5 May and checked out on 7 May for our onward travel to Paris. We were in room number 114 on the first floor. On 6 May, we left the hotel at 8:30 am and came back to the room at 10:30 pm (after dinner). As soon as we returned to the room, I realized that my laptop which I kept in the closet was missing. We checked all our bags thoroughly and then promptly reported the theft to the front desk. The two boys on the night duty immediately called the owner, who confirmed that he will check with the housekeeping staff and then will report the matter to the police. At around midnight, the two boys from the front desk came to our room with a devise to retrieve the access card information from the door lock. They also informed me that there is a CCTV only on the ground floor and the access to the CCTV footage is only with the owner. Next morning, I met the wife of the owner and enquired about how can they help in finding my laptop. I also asked for the room access and the CCTV information. She informed me that other than the housekeeping staff, her husband accessed the room and he gave access to the repairs contractors in our absence. I was absolutely shocked to learn that the folks accessed our room without our permission. The owners did not share the CCTV footage with us. She said that she is reviewing the CCTV footage herself and will let us know if she finds anything. They also did not report the matter to the police. They gave
