It is not a 5 star resort so read all the reviews on all platforms & make your choices. The price to stay at this hotel is over inflated with the only plus point being the size of the pool that the resort has in comparison to the other hotels in that vicinity. The staff is the saving grace of this resort. If you are not a meat eater then you will struggle to find anything to eat. Signs for the food do not indicate correctly if you pick up an item that is vegetarian.

Am Strand und Pool herrscht dauerhaft hoher Lärmpegel durch spielende und schreiende Kinder. Am Hauptpool wird trotz Verbot ins Wasser gesprungen – obwohl zwei Kinderpools vorhanden sind. Leider wird dies vom Personal nicht unterbunden. Bereits am frühen Morgen (ab ca. 8 Uhr) sind sämtliche Liegen durch Handtücher „reserviert“, obwohl das laut Hotelrichtlinien eigentlich nicht erlaubt ist. Auch hier fehlt eine konsequente Kontrolle. Ein großes Manko ist das rücksichtslose Verhalten einiger Gäste: Müll wird einfach liegen gelassen, obwohl ausreichend Mülleimer vorhanden sind. Es wird auf den Boden gespuckt, laut gestritten, laut telefoniert und am Strand Musik in unzumutbarer Lautstärke abgespielt. Das Niveau der Gästestruktur hat unser Wohlbefinden deutlich beeinträchtigt. Obwohl das Hotel erst zwei Jahre alt ist, zeigen sich bereits Abnutzungserscheinungen in mehreren Bereichen. Unser Zimmer mit „Meerblick“ bot in Wirklichkeit nur einen Blick auf den Pool in westlicher Richtung – das Meer sieht man nicht.

Vi er utrolig fornøyde med oppholdet vårt på Melia Durres! Hotellet leverte på alle områder – nydelige og rene rom, fantastisk beliggenhet, og ikke minst et personale som virkelig får deg til å føle deg velkommen. Servicen var profesjonell og vennlig hele veien, og fasilitetene var førsteklasses. Bassenget, stranden og maten var helt topp. Takk for et minnerikt opphold, vi kommer tilbake

The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning interiors and a generally welcoming atmosphere. The staff seemed friendly throughout our stay, which added to the overall experience. However, there were a few downsides. The food at the Mekado restaurant—which is the main option included in the all-inclusive package—was consistently cold. This applied across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At one point, they brought out a fresh batch of pancakes, and even those were cold (???). We concluded Albanians liked cold food and this was their norm. Housekeeping was another area that could use improvement. While I understand cleaners aren’t expected to tidy up personal belongings, basic cleaning was lacking. The bed would be made and towels replaced, but surfaces weren’t wiped, and floors didn’t appear to be cleaned. I had left a bracelet on the floor, and it was still there when we returned later that day. You’d only know they had been in your room because of the new towels, which was quite odd. Also worth noting: the location is very remote. Most places are about an hour’s drive away, so it’s not ideal if you’re hoping to explore the area easily. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel with friendly staff, but some key areas—especially the food and cleanliness—definitely need improvement.

Overall we had a very nice week. The property is of excellent quality, immaculately clean, the rooms are lovely, and the staff very friendly. There were some areas which slightly let it down but I suspect this was because it was right at the start of the season so they are still ironing things out: - They provided incorrect information on what the all-inclusive package comprised when we checked in. To their credit they subsequently made up for it by offering complimentary dining in a number of the restaurants reserved for ‘Levels’ guests. - The buffet in the main restaurant ‘Merkado’ was fine if a little uninspiring. I think you would get pretty bored of it after a few days. - The beach is litter-strewn and rather desolate but we found this in several other beaches we visited. Top tip: rent a car as there are some worthwhile day trips within an hour or two (Tirana, Kruje etc).
