Short stay in my hometown
1-night trip

Hotel really good. Excellent location. A bit disappointed there was no room for us to eat on first night. But hotel was lovely and clean and decor was spot on. Nice there was parking at back of hotel. Would definately stay again.

On check in i was offered breakfast and agreed a time. I came downstairs and found the building completely empty and couldn't find a single member of staff. I was also issued a key for the room without a fob for the entrance but as it turns out that wasn't needed as the night entrance door was broken and tied open. This isn't the first time ive stayed here but its definitely the last. I would strongly recommend you find another place to stay when in Alnwick.

Great inn option. Friendly staff and clean accommodation. Only comment was that it is a shame they were not offering breakfast when we stayed.

Lovely old coaching inn, tasteful decor. Large bedroom & bathroom. Delicious food in the restaurant. Very helpful & efficient staff. In the centre of Alnwick so convenient for a visit.

It was a pleasant stay after visiting Alnwick Gardens. The room was about average size but walk up on third floor. The room was clean and as usual air conditioning was provided by opening the window. Parking is available but not for the faint of heart if you are not used to driving in the UK. Would consider staying there again if we are ever in the area.

It was My first stay at the Plough & I was extremely impressed. My room (The Muckle) was just what I needed, plenty of space clean, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Plenty of room in the car park. I was so impressed I immediately booked My next stay at the Plough

Nice room, rubbish shower. Had to go and hunt out a member of staff to order breakfast.

Location is perfect, bed was very comfortable. Suited our needs when we were at a wedding and only needed a bed for the night. Boutique it is not though and was rather expensive for what you get. A toilet that struggles to flush paper and abysmal workmanship on the silicone sealant round the shower. Access to room after hours and egress in the morning via a poorly maintained, rickety fire escape due to no staff on site overnight.

Turned up at 21:30 to find the place closed and no one responding to knocking on all the doors etc. had to go and find another hotel late at night

There was no chef so no breakfast- we had to walk into town and this was an extra cost. The room was stiflingly hot with no windows. They provided an ac unit but it didn’t cool at all. They had no hotel WiFi only a link to the cloud with Sky. The room was very small, no chairs cupboards or wardrobe although it was clean and the bed comfortable

THE PROPERTY IS OBVIOUSLY IN THE PROCESS OF BEING UPGRADED BY THE NEW OWNERS. HOWEVER THERE ARE SO MANY FAULTS WITH THE ROOMS , GENERAL ACCESS, THE COULDN'T CARE LESS ATTITIDE OF THE STAFF, FAULTY LIGHTING & PLUMBING. I THINK PUNCH TAVERNS ( THE NEW OWNERS) SHOULD BE OFFERING REDUCED ROOM RATES TO COMPENSATE GUESTS FOR THE INCONVINIENCE THE UPGRADE CAUSES OR CLOSE THE PLACE UNTIL THE RENOVATION IS FINISHED. LEFT BITTERLY DISSAPOINTED AND THERE WAS NO ONE , APART FROM A CLEANER, TO EXPLAIN OUR CONCERNS,

There was no option to open or close the window which I thought was weird. Maybe it was just my room...I don't know. The soap dispensers where not cleaned it all. They were rusty and full of old globs of soap residue. It was nasty. The toilet is a little different and makes a awful noise when flushed. The WiFi is bad. It kept cutting in and out. Other than those issues, it was a decent stay. The bed was nice and comfy. If you are going in and out of the building, you have to use the exit door at the back. When you check out, just leave your key im your door because nobody is available in the morning.

Having been responsible for making a mistake on the booking date as I wasn’t cancelling but changing I found them very inflexible as did Experian as they weren’t getting good communications either. It’s a pub not a hotel. The accommodation was good except a bad smell from the bathroom where there was no fan, and no bath mat. Duvet on bed no problem but no spare blanket in case needed. Not for the unfit as it’s up four sets of stairs and if pub is locked, up a fire escape at the back of the building. Dining room not in use nor lounge just seating in bar kitchen door left permanently open, never saw anyone cooking but don’t want to see in, doesn’t portray a nice ambience. Never anyone to speak to out of pub hours no contact details in case you had a question, a bit laid back. If they served breakfast and had a cosy area to sit it would have potential.

After navigating our way through outdoor tables littered with dirty glasses, things started to go wrong on check-in. Sad as being from 3pm, at 4.10pm he room wasn’t ready. Ok, it was 10 mins later but we realised later this was only achieved through cutting corners. Hairs in bath, no teaspoons, only 2 milk cartons, carpet not vacuumed, cobwebs in one bedside light and other one not working, virtually no loo roll, soap dispenser and shower gel dispenser not working. We booked this 2 night stay with filter for ‘breakfast included’ but staff advised not so. On complaining to manager, he eventually was persuaded that breakfast would be provided at no charge. However, breakfast turned out to be only for that first morning, as the violent drunken argument in the next room (to which police were called and an arrest made) disturbed us for 3 hours in the middle of the night. We advised the manager we would not stay for the second night due to all the above factors, and that we would expect a refund via hotels.com. Very disappointing to then see later that, according to hotels.com, he had refused to sanction a refund. This is an over-priced room above a pub, proven by our move down the road for £50 a night less, breakfast included and staff who knew what they were doing.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room that i was in had a very high window so absolutely no view. The staff were very friendly and informed me that they had literally just taken over the property. Food wasnt an option as due to the take over they had no chef.

Run down hotel with no catering & virtually no staff & difficult access to car park. No ventilation in stuffy bedroom as windows were sealed shut. We had to use fire escape at the back for access as front door was locked overnight; no breakfast available so we saw ourselves out. A note on the door gave a mobile number to phone in an emergency, with a warning that response time could be up to an hour! Even Faulty Towers was better than this, tho to be fair the bed was comfortable!
