We visited Liverpool on one of the most expensive weeks of the year (due to Liverpool FC's parade and the May Bank Holiday music festivals), so chose to stay in Stockport, a few miles up the coast from Liverpool, where accommodation is far better value for money, and it's quieter.
If you don't want to drive into Liverpool city centre, there's a very regular railway service (every 15 minutes) between the two towns, and parking at Stockport station is only £3.95 for 24 hours when using the NCP app.
Josie offers a welcoming, pleasant, comfortable house with lovely rooms, comfortable beds, and delicious breakfasts with plenty of choice. Add a quiet location, onsite parking, WiFi and a friendly, knowledgeable hostess and you have a truly winning combination.
We would certainly return to Edendale House if visiting Liverpool again.
