Comfortable stay

Our stay was comfortable and was a good location for us. We are staying there again next week on the last night of our Icelandic stay. As well, the receptionist Blanca (?) was very helpful when we ran into difficulties booking ferry tickets. We are so very appreciative of her professional and efficient manner.

We found the hotel very affordable and adequate to our needs. Breakfast was solid and those working in the hotel were very professional and polite. Rooms, however, are VERY hot due to poor ventilation in the summer and, as others have mentioned, the water has a very strong sulphur smell.

Very lovely stay

We had a very nice stay, the staff was very friendly, food was tasty and the hotel was nice and quiet. One of the beds was sunken in, but all in all the stay was really good. Hotel is by a busy road so the air vents had to be closed for the night.

Good value, very helpful staff, but missing

Good value, very helpful staff, but missing some things Americans expect. There were no USB ports or mini fridge in the room. On the other hand, the staff offered to refrigerate things for us. It was cool enough out that we were able to use the balcony to keep things cool. It was what we needed at an affordable price and staff went out of their way for us. The only real downsides were that the beds were quite soft (though this is common in Europe) and the tap water smelled like sulfur.

I do not recommend

Compared to other cheap Icelandic hotels this is the worst I have stayed at. Old carpets like in the States. Very small room with a small bed. You can hear the traffic very well and other guests woke me up during the night. Hótel Vellir in Hafnarfjörður and Cabin Hotel in Borgartún are much better. I paid less for the room there

Outdated without the basics like curtains

This "hotel" was like a hostel. Everything outdated, old and basic. It's summer where sun doesn't go down until midnight yet for two windows there was 1 curtain that didn't pull even half way across so it's was blinding in the room. Bed was hard like a rock, carpet 20yrs old, and size of room was worse than a dorm. (Staff friendly)

We enjoyed our stay here. It was on the outskirts bof Reykjavik and so it was convenient to travel around. Our room was very comfortable and the bed was as well. There were options for dining around as well. We would definitely stay here again
