The property was as advertised, the general condition was ok and expected for Fiji standard, a bit tired and passable for NZ / Aus standards. The staff were really friendly. The general area was ok, I wouldn't feel safe going out after dark though.

Pool wasn’t great, room had a weird smell and didn’t complain but no one did anything
Arvikesh, 2-night trip

It is a nice setting around the pool. However the hotel has decided to open the bar and this pool area to the public, which is fine, but this area is very close to superior rooms. There were large groups sitting around the pool, drinking beer, in the evenings. I found the noise and the amount of large groups sitting around outside my room, to be quite uncomfortable. Added to this the superior room does not have glass windows. It has wooden shutters which means, even when closed, it is very hard to block the noise from pool area out. I have to say the staff were lovely. I do think the hotel needs to consider it policies in balancing the needs of guests with the opening of the bar to the public. Perhaps consider a specified area for outside guests who want to access the bar.

2/10 Poor

This property has deteriorated terribly. We stayed here several years back and it was a nice place. This stay has shown how little the owners care about the facilities. On the outside it looks nice and appealing but, the rooms are sorely outdated and in need of complete updating. There were so many things wrong. We didn't have hot water for a shower until our last day. We stayed 3 nights. The staff did there best to provide a friendly environment. The towels were very worn out and the bathroom mats we stained and worn as well. The dining room table cloths were dirty and stained. They advertise this as the pride of the North. I would be ashamed to advertise like that with the condition of this hotel.

The first night we tried to go to bed. There was a big yellow stain on the bed sheet. We call the front desk and told them what had happened. They came and changed the bed sheet. Told them about the tap on top of the sink in the washroom. There was algae under the tap. It was so grouse. The shower came out of the wall. Terrible customer service. The TV wasn't working properly too. Called the front desk and complained about the tv. One of the channels wasn't working. Nobody came to our room and tried to fix our TV.

2/10 Poor

Where to start? Possibly one of the worst places i have stayed. The smell of river at the back of our room was disgusting. The floors of the room was so dirty which isn't ideal with little kids. You ask for towels and it takes more than an hour to arrive. My 3 year old daughter got locked in the room when she was sleeping. My husband run around looking for help and we were told managment doesn't have keys to the back door. Front door had to broken down in order for us to get it. Considering this is the one expensive hotels in labasa it's just in horrible shape. The staff are friendly however managment needs to take better care or stop charging so much. We ended up checking out 2 days earlier. Will not recommend this to anyone.

6/10 Good

We looked forward to the colonial style property. It has dated, we didn't mind that , however felt some attention needed to be paid to things like securing powerpoint near the bed better. We loved the water view. Walu fish for dinner was rubbery, maybe a limited menu would ensure good standard of produce. Reception and restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful. There was a very large group of about 25 who arrived after us so our dessert was going to be very delayed, so we skipped dessert. The wiat staff kindly offered to bring dessert to our room, we declined due to time taken for delivery. The access to shops is a great plus and gardens are well maintained. It would be good to close swimming pool access by say 9.00pm as the noise from pool area did continue to a bit after 10.00am.
