The location and cleanliness were fine, but unfortunately we experienced a serious issue that affected our stay. On the first night, the air conditioning in our room started leaking water and the ceiling opened up. The next day, we were informed that we had to move to another room. The change was made, but the new room was of a lower category (no desk or chair, less comfortable shower, one of the lights was not working, less hangers in the wardrobe ) and we did not receive any gesture of courtesy or an upgrade despite the magnitude of the inconvenience. For a hotel of this category, we expected a more empathetic and customer-oriented response.

Of the five places we stayed in Italy, this was my least favourite but I can’t even put a finger on why exactly. We changed rooms almost immediately upon arriving due to a noisy neighbour and the staff was super accommodating about that. The location was ok. The view was beautiful from the front of the hotel. I think I just found Salerno in general to be less welcoming than the other places we stayed. Not the hotels fault by any means, but that may have fed into my experience.

We don’t usually book at a hotel of this type, but needed to at short notice for one night. We have stayed at other 3 star properties who delivered a better property and better service. One frustration was that the rooftop facility advertised, which I thought would be great for an easy dinner option, is not available unless it is for a function. Not sure if that was made clear in the booking details or not.
