Great Hotel & Staff

Great Hotel with super friendly and efficient Staff … shout out to Andrew on Reception especially but honestly all the staff, be it those in the bar/restaurant, the spa/gym or those looking after the rooms, they were all absolutely fantastic.
Mark, 14-night trip

6/10 Good

Neither good nor bad.

Hotel is very standard and basic. Young dude behind the bar was a sound guy putting me into the burger and a pint offer to save some coin. Would stay again but only if nothing else about.

My sec f trip to this hotel, I always get a great welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Love the location and grounds too. A swimming m and steam in the morning was great although the charge to guests staying at the hotel I thought was steep.

A really nice hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. Food was not bad either. The Ceaser salad was very nice.
Antony, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Very old room and very dirty. Curtains hanging off and furniture from the 80s. Whole place needs refurb or knocking down. Every cup I turned over was filthy. Will never stay again.

Good hotel

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Did not use the spa. The grounds were lovely.
Anita, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

One issue spoiled what would have been an excellent trip. Hidden charges for using the pool and gym! I paid to stay here because it had facilities, I don’t expect to then be told it’s £7 a day to use them.
Alan, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Room was a bit delapidated - bathroom was nice though! They definitely invested in the reception / entrance and left then parts of the hotel alone. Heating didn’t work so it had an oil filled portable radiator in which wasn’t enough to keep the room warm. The phone didn’t work so we rang externally to order room service and were told ‘ah well you’ll need to come down’. Also the man in front of us checking in was being moved due to some ‘large’ insects in his original room
Iain, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Needs restoring to it's former glory

All though we had a reasonable stay, the room could have been cleaner and the broken fan removed. The hotel itself is very tired and in need of some renovations. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The grounds and gardens are rather neglected with quite a lot of rubbish around. I guess however that this is one of the better Britannia hotels to stay in
STEPHEN, 4-night trip

2/10 Poor

I booked a standard double room however when i got there they told me they had none of those rooms available and placed me in a room with no windows. This room was in a secluded part of the hotel and had no aircon so the room was absolutely boiling. I've stayed here many times before and never had an issue with the comfort of the beds however this room was extremely uncomfortable i had no sleep as the bed and pillows were like rocks and the room was red hot. I received no refund even though i payed more money for my original room and the room i was placed in was cheaper.

Amelia, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

The bed in the small double was very hard and could feel the springs in the mattress. Walking to the room the corridors were fairly unkempt between main property and lower rooms (508). This particular area felt quite sterile. Staff were very nice and Victoria in particular who was running the restaurant was really excellent. The pool facilities were also very good. Overall the hotel was good and the staff ran it well considering ladies day at the races made it rather busy. Although the small double is a budget friendly option I do feel the room food do with a little upgrading - new mattress etc
Michelle, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

we had a nice comfortable room, it was nice and clean with a comfy bed and a decent shower. Plenty of safe parking. Lovely hotel and a reasonable price.
joan, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Very conveniently located for the conference / event I was attending at the venue next door. Competitive room rate - but everything 'extra' or a supplement: the breakfast was +50% the cost of the room ('searching listing optimisation?'; the pool / health club more expensive than my local council one. Next time I'll go to the conveniently located MacDonalds 2 minutes walk away. Drinks in the bar were decently priced
