Grand Hotel Royal exceeded our expectations. Even before we arrived, the level of customer care and was exceptional. They gave us a gift and handwritten note for our anniversary which was a thoughtful touch. We had a problem with our toilet that was not able to be repaired so they swiftly moved us to a different room. They arranged round trip Naples train station transportation and when the ferry to Positano was unexpectedly cancelled, they saved the day and arranged a driver to take us.The hotel is walking distance to everything- shopping, ferry, sights and dining. The room & bathroom were spacious and immaculate with daily toiletries and water. The breakfast room is lovely, overlooking the serene gardens, and the breakfast had great variety. We highly recommend Grand Hotel Royal and plan to return!

The property is in a spectacular and convenient location. Short walking distance to the city center and train and bus station. The terrace view of the gulf and marina piccola are fantastic and invite to a drink at sunset. The dining options are plenty for dinner and breakfast is for every needs and taste including gluten-free options. Rooms comfortable and clean. In summary a great location for your Sorrento stay.

The property is nice and has an amazing view. However for a 5 star expensive hotel, they really need to consider doing the following: 1. Consider a welcome drink at the time of check in 2. Consider hydration and coffee station on the main hotel entrance level 3. The rooms are nice but the hallway floor is not padded so at night you hear every step of a flip flop outside the room door 4. The swimming pool closes at 6 pm. That is way too early. Consider extending pool time to 8 pm. 5. You cannot eat at pool side. If you want to eat or have dessert, you have to leave your poolside lounge and go sit in their pool restaurant. Consider changing that policy. It is nice to eat at the pool side. 6. Not all the waiters are well trained. I asked one of the terrace waiters to get me french fries. His reply was that I cannot get French fries unless I order a cheese burger. I had to call for head waiter to solve this issue. Finally, I ended up getting my side of fries only, without having to order the burger. 7. The gym is very small with mediocre equipments. There is no view to the outside. It is located at basement level. 8. They need to upgrade the coffee provided in the rooms. The quality is poor. 9. The food quality was average. We actually went to their sister hotel ambasciotori and had dinner there one night and food quality was way better. 10. There are weddings almost every day. The night before we left they had a wedding/party with loud music past midnight.

The Grand Hotel Royal, an approximately 100 year old property overlooking the Marina piccolo, is a five star travelers dream. The property is beautifully and lovingly cared for and while traditional in it architectural presence, absolutely up to date and modern in its amenities and services. The upper grand swimming pool and terraces with dining amenities, perfectly landscaped gardens and lower level beach all facing Mount Vesuvius are all perfection. Don't miss the elevator located in the garden that takes you down to the beach where you enter through an amazing arched tunnel. The staff was very accommodating and the hotel location central to dining, shopping and nightlife - all in walking distance. Our junior suite king room with a balcony was also perfection. A gorgeous and large bathroom with shower and bathtub as well as separate double sink area. excellent closet and dressing areas and a beautiful view of both the sea and town of Sorrento. I cannot wait to stay there again!
