Left Mid-Stay – Deceptive, Invasive, and Disrespectful Experience
I booked the Safi Royal Luxury Metropolitan Hotel in Monterrey expecting a high-end experience. What I got instead was a nightmare of mismanagement, shady practices, and Orwellian policies. It was so bad, I walked out and demanded a refund — and I never do that.
Despite paying in full for a premium room, I was downgraded without notice or consent. When I raised the issue, the staff brushed me off with robotic smiles and zero accountability. No apology, no solution — just silence and condescension.
What pushed me over the edge was their absurd “for your safety” policy that prevented me from changing the name of the second person on the registration. I paid for the room. I should decide who stays with me. Instead, I was treated like a potential security risk for wanting flexibility. It was patronizing, unnecessary, and frankly invasive.
To make matters worse, the entire atmosphere felt off — as if I was being monitored or tracked. Staff behavior bordered on creepy, and I never felt truly comfortable. This isn’t “luxury,” it’s control dressed up in marble and fake smiles.
Fed up, I left mid-stay, demanded a refund, and booked across the street at Camino Real. The contrast was night and day — respectful, professional service and a room that matched what I paid for. Safi should take notes.
If you value your money, your time, or your basic dignity, avoid this place at all costs.
