Must visit hotel in Seoul

I personally think this hotel is one of the most charming hotels in Seoul. The location is ideal, the view is amazing (calming), the facilities are very well maintained, and the overall sense of professionalism and service is top notch. However, I gave it a “Good” rating instead of “Excellent” because the food and drinks are quite pricey but I don’t necessarily think the flavors are on par with the price.

If you book the room on the river side you will have the "wow-effect" you are looking for. Even from the Lobby the view is stunning. The personal do everything for you, nothing to complain about. Of course in such an hotel where the demand is high with so many rooms it could be crowded and sometimes unpleasant during the breakfast time and at the pool, but this is how it is, they do there best to satisfy the client and this is also why people are going there. The Room-Service was very efficient and pleasant, the pool service and the Concierge too. Great job to all the staff.

We loved our stay at the grand Hyatt. The river view rooms offer amazing views over the whole city and while they are not large by luxury standards the design is thoughtful and elegant. Namsan park rises behind the hotel and was a lovely place for a walk. The only drawback is that the hotel is a very steep 14min walk uphill from Itaewon where both dining and transportation options are located. The hotel offers a shuttle but we mostly used taxis to get around.

Elevator situation is awful

Had stayed at this hotel many times pre-pandemic but this was my first time back since Covid. It’s not the gem it was. Overall, the hotel is still very nice but an issue absolutely devastating to the experience is the overcrowded elevators. There simply aren’t enough and I ended up spending a great deal of my trip waiting on the elevators. This culminated in a horrific 20 minute journey trying to get down to the lobby to check out. I waited 10 minutes (as 3 elevators stopped on my floor that were completely full) before deciding to take an elevator up and then come back down. That elevator stopped on every floor down even though it was full. When I finally made it to the front desk I explained the situation and suggested they should manually override the elevators during busy periods to somewhat ameliorate the situation. The front desk associate didn’t seem to care and just nodded (in that I’m not really listening way). The breakfast buffet can also have long wait times. Bottom line is that this hotel is too crowded for its existing infrastructure and the staff no longer seem to care about guests. Sad to see what was such a nice hotel turn to junk post-Covid. Don’t stay here if you value your time.

Not coming back again

I am a tourist and I feel so regret to have picked this hotel. This hotel is situated at the top of the mountain (which you cannot tell from the hotel booking website at all). its very inconvenient with no train station, bus station, even no restaurants around, except a few coffee shops. Given this inconvenience, this hotel capitalise on this opportunity to charge you a very overpriced food and drinks in the hotel. Breakfast buffet per person is 40USD per head. For in room service dining, foods are all expensive and dont live up to its price, a coffee latte costs you 14USD. All these not even count the 10% VAT yet Transportation can only rely on taxi or uber. If its weekend, warning that its so congested for all the cars going to the hotel. I almost missed my flight for coming back to get my luggage. So lets talk about the room, the bathroom is a disaster, very small, and the sink is so small thats its stuck already on my first night of arrival, at the end need to find a technician at midnight to come over to the room to pump it, as the water is stuck in the sink just after brushing teeth. The sink is also built not at a considerable height. For a tall person like me, I have to bend over my waist to wash my hand/ brush teeth every day Room ventilation is dry and the temperature is hard to control As for housekeeping, another disaster here, the housekeeper never fold any of my pajamas, and she just randomly throw it onto the chair, sometimes onto the sofa next to my luggage.
