Pros:
-Proximity to Plaza Des Armas (10-15min walk)
-Proximity to PeruRail’s Wanchaq bus station. Convenient if you booked the bi-modal service for Machu Picchu tour
-Front desk is nice & polite
-Free continental breakfast, though it’s the same everyday
-1 Free airport transfer, can be used from airport to the hotel OR vice versa. For us, we used it from the hotel to the airport for departure. Be careful though coz the driver tried to charge us 30soles for the trip, but we know it’s supposed to be free so we just told him that. FYI, Uber is cheaper at 15soles if you need to book.
Cons:
-It’s loud. Understandable that you may hear some outside traffic since it’s right by the road, but you can hear everything! Sirens, car alarms (literally went off everyday of our stay), honking from outside, etc. From the inside, we can hear the clanking of plates/dishes during breakfast time (5:30am to 9:30), chair movements, door closing, bathroom showers running. Might need some earplugs to get a good night sleep or if you’re a light sleeper, this place may not be for you.
-Pillows are flat and bed is hard for us (and we’re someone who prefer firm mattresses)
-Minimal toiletries provided
-Interesting smell in the dining area and hallways. It sort of smells like incense, though we were not sure. It was pretty strong for us and the smell sticks to your clothing.
Overall, you get what you pay for. A no frills hotel that’s decently priced and close to Plaza des Armas.
