"R9 The Yard has become my preferred choice for business hotels in Japan, particularly when traveling by car. The included parking and ground-level container rooms make unloading luggage or tech incredibly convenient (there are no stairs or elevators to navigate)
The rooms are consistently clean and modern, with everything in good working order. Not aged at all like some other hotels at similar prices. The bathrooms, which are especially important to me, are always spotless. Each guest receives one complimentary meal per night of stay, and the hotel also offers on-site coin laundry facilities. Basic amenities such as soap, toothbrushes, and more are available in the lobby.
Check-in is straightforward and efficient, conducted via a multilingual tablet in the lobby, including English. At this location, a staff member at the front desk also spoke some English, which was a helpful touch.
There is also a large drugstore next door called スギ薬局 (Sugi Pharmacy), which carries absolutely everything you might need, from toiletries and cosmetics to snacks, ready-made meals, and stationery.
This was my second stay at an R9 property, and once again, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Based on my experience so far, R9 The Yard continues to deliver excellent value and comfort."
"This hotel is above JR Takasaki station. Convenient location and a lot of places to eat and shop. The room is clean and very quiet. I had a comfortable bed. "
"The outside of the buildings looked a little old, but inside, it was very clean and very comfortable with an impressive amount of helpful appliances for food and temperature/humidity comfort. The shower and bedroom were particularly nice.
I would have given this hotel a perfect 5 star rating, but unfortunately the bedroom window (Room #7) faced a separate residential house that had many very loud and annoying dogs that barked every day from 6am to 12pm without stopping. It was very hard to get sleep because of this. It's not the hotel's fault, but people staying in Room #7 should be aware of this.
Also, it is a 15 minute to the nearest bus stop."
"Our stay was great. Checkin was easy just use the machine add your details and get code of the room.
Room was good, we had view of Shinkansen and trains.
Breakfast was delicious we loved it and again checkout was easy.
Cheerful and helpful staff, clean hotel and delicious healthy breakfast. Thank you hotel Sun!!!"
"A hot spring-style bath (onsen) is terrific. It helped me relax after the long international trip from the U.S. (Boston). The breakfast is just gorgeous. Both Western and Japanese-style food are delightful, especially for Westerners. Since most clients are male Japanese businessmen, you get to see the non-touristy, "real" side of Japan. "
"First time at this hotel and i was satisfied with my experience.
The rooms are not big , but is exactly as the pictures shown.
Front desk nice and polite and the area is very close to restaurants and shops.
Clean rooms, clean bathrooms and convenient laundry room inside the hotel.
I will stay again. "
"Excellent location, room and impeccable service as usual. Walking distance from Takasaki Eki, Montres, OPA/Aeon, restaurants, Takasaki Arena, Museums, and the Concourse!"
"The first night I was there, I could smell the smoke from the nearby smoking room, each time it was used. The second day, the staff moved me to a room on the other half of the floor, which I very much appreciated. I took a downgrade in bed size, but I could live with that. The room was small but pretty comfortable; there was only one toilet per floor but I only had to wait to use it once; showers were a bit small and had nowhere to hang your towel (aside from in the shower) but the water pressure was great. The TV had wireless headphones, although I couldn't find the HDMI slots as the TV was firmly up against the wall. Tochigi was lovely; I spent a little time one day hiking on the "fat, flat mountain" (I'm not sure what it's actual name is..futo hei yama? 😂); I rode the train into Nikko one day and into Gunma another day and wound up eating at the Sukiya 3 of the 5 days I was there (and conbini, the other days). And there was 110en Pepsi and Mtn. Dew in a nearby vending machine. All in all, good stuff."
"My only issue was that I was placed on a smoking room though I booked a non smoking one. The hotel was too booked to remedy the issue. Needless to say it made my stay less enjoyable than it would have. Even. The staff tried their best to help me out…they even gave me deodorizer spray. I blame the Orbitz side of the booking for my issue and not them…it’s clear you didn’t get the non smoking part of my booking sent their way."
