There is one main drag through Santa Teresa. It is very busy with cars, ATV's and motorcycles. You have to be very careful walking the street. No sidewalks.

The streets are a bit rough to walk on for older folks. And a bit dusty. But we rented an atv to drive to the tide pools in mal pais, montezuma and hermosa. Really great restaurant choices.

Like all beautiful places, word spreads and more people come to visit. I admit I'm part of that "problem". In the core area, things were crowded. You are only minutes away from quieter locations while being able to enjoy the many conveniences of town

Only negative was one big section of the road in the center of the town was not paved and it was extremely rocky and dusty. Unsure as to why left unpaved but it is a high traffic area. Felt bad for shops and restaurants in that section.

I had a few times that I didn’t even want to go out of our room because it was so nice the pool the sun the quiet the view everything is amazing!

"Amazing views and the terrace with the jacuzzi is absolutely worth it. Daily cleaning with fresh towels, coffee/tea refills, and everything left spotless.
The bed was super big and very comfortable. They even left us a complimentary bottle of wine. The reception staff were incredibly kind and helpful, both via WhatsApp and in person.
The road is steep but manageable with an SUV (no 4x4 needed), and walking takes just 7–10 minutes. We loved that it’s away from the busy center—much more peaceful and the views are way better.
Only downside: the kitchen is minimally equipped (just two glasses, two plates, one pan), and lacks basics like salt or oil. Also, most of the fridge space is taken by minibar items (for purchase).
Still, we highly recommend it!"

"This is an excellent place to stay for people on a budget because the rooms are beautiful and I have a super high wood beam ceiling and with air-conditioning and everything was clean and neat and we paid less than $55 a night! Plus it was right near everything and the staff was very helpful and they have common areas we can cook your own meals and it’s very very affordable really great price for what you get! If you are a light sleeper and this might not be the room for you because the traffic from the street makes a lot of noise but that doesn’t bother me because once I’m out I’m out! "

The toilet in my room leaked for the entire stay. They decided to address it at 9:30 PM by shutting the supply valve off. The maintenance man couldn't figure out which way to put the tank lid on correctly.
Front office was supposed to check on a snorkling tour and ATV rental for me. Zero follow up or response in 4 days.
Good luck finding the front office. The perpetual sign on the door stated " Be right back." Yeah, in 5 days.

"It’s one of the least expensive options for staying in town in Santa Teresa but still a lot of money for no hot water or seating options besides hard benches or hammocks. Staff was mostly very nice. I don’t recommend the evening yoga session if you’re easily distracted by noise and people gathering below to use the outdoor kitchen to make dinner also making it hard to hear instructions. Santa Teresa built up too fast during COVID and walking on the very narrow main road is often times dangerous and incredibly loud and incredibly dusty which isn’t the fault of Don Jon’s but something to be aware of about going anywhere outside of property. WiFi is ok near the lobby but not so good the further away which is where the tree houses are. It’s best experienced by younger people in their twenties. "

Close to great cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores. Our check in process went smoothly and the private family room was perfect, except that we noticed quite quickly the AC wasn’t working on the 2nd level in the bedrooms. The staff were so kind and quick to work hard and fix it by the time we went got back for dinner. 10/10 customer service. Would absolutely stay here again!"
