One thing to explore in Eureka is the Sequoia Park Zoo. I'm not a fan of zoos, but this is small and has a redwood canopy walk that is fantastic.

I was here on business and visit my son who goes to school nearby. Eureka is a pretty quiet town in need of revitalization. There's a fair amount of homelessness/drug activity. Maybe a little more so than others. no issues, tho, it was nice.

Do yourself a favor and ride down the Avenue of the Giants which runs adjacent to highway 101 it is worth your time. Also they have a Franz's bakery outlet just a little bit north of Eureka downtown so maybe a few miles. Most excellent.

Nice cool/foggy weather to enjoy away from the 100+ degree heat dome in the CA central valley. Good restaurants, nice old town.

We came from the valley so it was nice having cool weather. The only complaint about Eureka was the amount of homeless. We got woken up a few times with some of them yelling in the streets.

Downtown is quaint and nice. Plenty of mom and pop shops to peruse and a lot of dining options.
"We were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel! The kids loved the indoor/outdoor pool and the place was super clean and nice. Very helpful and kind staff. "
"Fun little motel. Our room was a good size. Huge bathroom. There was even a kitchenette with fridge, hand sink, and microwave. We had the bottom floor. Not the motels fault but the family with 2 children above us were so loud that i had to let them know. Dad apologized and we were just fine after that. Btw i waited until 11pm. Small parking lot but never had a problem getting one. Just a few blocks from old downtown and harbor."
"Clean, renovated room. Good breakfast. Very nice overnight stay. Front desk staff was very friendly and professional.
Only issue was the old electrical outlets in the room that were loose and would not grip/hold the plug when you plug something in (like phone charger.) Phone charger would simply just fall back out of the outlet after you plug it in. These outlets should be addressed as soon as practicable. Other than that, very enjoyable stay. "
"Amazing little place with super friendly and helpful staff!
Cat and dog friendly!
The location was perfect for walking around and exploring the down town.
Rooms where clean and the water pressure was great.
Would absolutely stay here again! "
"We did not plan ahead and needed a place to stay on the 4th of July. This gem of a propert had a room open at a decent price! The front desk staff had no customer service skills or information on the breakfast offered or pool.
We were able to see the fireworks from our room which was a great suprise. The breakfast was horrible very few options and messy."
"I had a fantastic time at the Hydrangea Inn! I rented the Bungalow and it was adorable and quiet. Breakfast on the two days of my stay was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again."
"Highly recommend! Lovingly restored, beautiful furnishings, across the street from the historic Carson Mansion, sweet family onsite to make sure you're settled in, right near downtown and the harbor. "
"The room was fine but the property seemed to have long-term semi-transient persons staying there. There was also a lot of noise that sounded like a party fairly late into the night. The desk staff were nice, however."
