Cobblestone streets lead past colorful colonial buildings to the iconic Arco de Santa Catalina, framing distant volcanoes. Climb Cerro de la Cruz for sweeping city views, then explore bustling markets and ornate churches before savoring local cuisine.
I couldn't get enough of this amazing colonial town. Beautiful, safe, peaceful with so many restaurant options and great hotels. Pick and choose the experience you want to have, close to Guatemala city and with so many additional tour options.

Antigua is such a beautiful city with a lot of culture. We enjoyed walking around the city, shopping, and grabbing food and drinks throughout the day. It was also very affordable! The people were kind and we would love to go back someday soon!

It doesn't matter what street you walk on there will be something interesting a cafe, a store, a museum, an old house or a ruin to see. Food is easy to find and the main square is always beautiful. To much to see so little time.

Antigua is literally the best city I visited in Guatemala. I love the way it looks, the local people are soooooo friendly and warm, the surrounding with the volcanoes is mind blowing. I had the best time there !

A perfect base for an Acetenango volcano tour, and seemingly slow pace of life and the local culture, but the cobbled streets and poor paving might be problematic for people with walking difficulties.

I really loved Antigua Guatemala. Even though it has that old colonial look, everything is very modern in the inside. The restaurants are exceptional and service everywhere is amazing.

Antigua is such a great (underrated) city! Great sights, shops and plenty to do for everyone. The streets are however not stroller friendly, we carried our toddler.

I spent a week in Antigua. For a small town I thought I would get bored, but believe me, there's a lot to see and do. It's a gorgeous town all around.

"Online pictures and descriptions do not do this property any justice. It’s huge and beautiful. The cabin was so cute and cozy. The staff is amazing! They really made it a fantastic experience. "
"Really loved the price and location . There’s a bar in front of stay along with a gelato spot . Everything is walkable distance , front desk staff super friendly . Clean room with a free water . Had a fan on the wall , extension cord to charge phone close to bed . Can’t beat the price ! Super cute entrance and seating area. "
"This is the most welcoming Hotel I've ever visited. In the many countries that I've stayed, I'd never experienced something like this. Simply beautiful: amenities, delicious food, the room, the pools, the museums... Wow such an indescribable experience. I wish we had expended more time over there but will definitely be back for more"
"Este hotel fue una buena elección para mis vacaciones en Antigua Guatemala. Es hotel y restaurante. Además, está cerca de todo. De otros cafés y restaurantes, ruinas, iglesias importantes para visitar y está en el mismo arco de Santa Catalina. El servicio es muy bueno. Lo único es que el agua caliente no dura mucho para uno bañarse y hay que hacerlo muy rápido. Fuera de eso, todo bn."
"I had amazing stay at this property. It was perfectly located in the city of Antigua. The aesthetic of the property fit perfectly within the aesthetic of the city. There were plenty of walkable options and dining. The room I received was very spacious and felt very much like its own apartment. "
"A la llegada teniamos mucho calor por la caminata con el equipaje, a pesar de la buena descripcion del video para llegar, nos perdimos 😬 entonces llegamos buscando aire acondicionado o abanicos y solo encontramos uno muy pequeño el cual usamos y al paso de las horas ya no se ocupo"
"Our family had a fantastic stay at this Pensativo House Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive. The check-in process was smooth and quick, and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and comfortable the room was. The bed was cozy, the amenities were well thought out, and everything was spotless.
One of the highlights was the breakfast – fresh, delicious, and with plenty of options for everyone. The location was also perfect, close to great restaurants and local attractions, but still quiet enough to relax.
We definitely will be back to Pensativo House and recommend this hotel"
"It was amazing, every area was very well maintained and the room was beautiful, the food in the restaurant was amazing and the view from the highest terrace was simply marvelous "
"It was probably the best boutique hotel we have ever stayed at. So cool. A lot of art and artifacts decorating the property. The service was exceptional and all levels of the staff were so nice. "
"The property and staff were 5 stars. The only thing that was not 5 stars was no A/C. Really not an issue because the temperature was comfortable. Even without a gym, one was within a short walking distance. Also restaurants surround the property. "
"The hotel is beautiful; a great contrast between the colonial style mixed with ruins and an exquisite comfort. The food “amazing”! All staff super kind and great service. Definitely will come back! "
"Loved everything!
the gym its in a very bad condition, the cardio machines doesn't work as we expected in a 5 star hotel
Elliptical has a horrible sound
"
"You guys should update your pictures on Expedia. The property is beautiful and you’re not really advertising that in my opinion. You could get tons of business from people like my wife and I who love and appreciate the colonial architecture in Guatemala."
"Very pretty and well situated hotel, close to everything, lovely patio/ terrace. Large rooms , helpful staff, coffee. Cons - little dated, thin walls. Overall - very positive. "
