We booked a room in 88 fine hotel and was expecting to sleep in one of the detached rooms as per photos in the booking- however we stayed on the second floor of the black elephant boutique. The stairs are very steep- so would recommend when booking to book first floor if needed!

"Three story building. EXTREMELY STEEP STAIRS. No lift / elevator. No proper handrails. Just thin rusty 1 inch rebar that was not secured very well to the wall. The stairs were so steep it was like climbing a ladder. Close to the airport but miles from anything else, just getting food delivered can be challenging. I'm sure the bed used to be a concrete tunnel support, the hardest mattress I've ever not been able to sleep on. Reception staff excellent, as is usual in Thailand."

"The photos are deceiving, it is a truck stop. It was going to be okay but after getting food from the 7/11 there was a swarm of ants carrying a larger bug towards the patio door. Definitely felt it confirmed the state of the hostel. The price reflected the quality so can't complain too much, just wish the photos illustrated the rooms/building more authentically.
