"I am a woman that often travels on my own. This was the case here. I felt the hotel and area to be very safe. I reserved a sea view room with a balcony. The hotel location is great in Ponta Delgada. I spent several days just walking all over the city. Each morning I would run along the waterfront. The views were beautiful. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruits, cheeses, breads, pastries, juices, and coffees. The room was comfortable and clean with a firm bed (which I prefer). The room did have a bit of a musty smell and could have used some updated carpet/flooring, but other than that, it was perfect. The a/c kept the room cool and comfortable. There is onsite parking, which was full my first night, so I parked in the public ramp next to the hotel ramp. The public ramp ended up being under €10 for the night. I was able to get into the hotel ramp for €7.50/day for the remainder of my stay. Finally, the people. I have not experienced such warm hospitality in years! Everyone was warm and professional, and helped make my stay wonderful! I would definitely stay here again."

"The only issue was with the lack of a wake up call on my first day when I had a morning tour planned. Neither of the two I requested went through. However, I am in a Portuguese speaking country and was not equipped to request a wake-up call in that language. The one staff member was not able to understand me, so I noted the next time I asked for a call, she wrote an hour later down- when I noted it, and wrote the correct time, she had another staff member aid me and we were able to communicate effectively and she addressed my concerns and called the tour company to assure I would be picked up. Breakfast was filling and worth it!"

"Very nice hotel. The basic room is perfect for a stay when you don’t expect to spend alot of time in the room. No luxury. Not a nice area to walk around but the best because very central to visit the island. The property and lot is wonderful. Nice pool. Spa building. Basic but all you need for breakfast is included. Very quiet hotel and guest. Feels like nature and that’s what we wanted. 9+/10"

"We had a lovely stay at Caloura Hotel Resort. The location is quiet, remote, and beautiful—perched on the cliffs with peaceful sea views and lush gardens. It was especially nice to be able to walk down to the ocean through the grounds. The hotel feels very calm and relaxing, but you definitely need a car to get around. We had a ground-floor room overlooking the pool. The room itself was fairly basic but comfortable, and it was great to have a little balcony. The corridor outside had a strange smell when we first arrived, but the staff quickly resolved it after we mentioned it at reception. I wish I could remember the receptionist’s name (possibly Alfonso?)—he was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times. The food was a bit hit-and-miss, but the staff were always apologetic and clearly doing their best. Overall, the friendliness and helpfulness of the team really made a difference and made up for anything the hotel might lack in luxury. Lots of free parking too. We’d happily stay again and would recommend it to others looking for a peaceful base on São Miguel."

"We spent a fantastic week at Casa das Palmeiras — we loved the small inn feel — beautiful decor and thoughtful touches and warm welcomes — and the great central location. We could walk to any number of cafes, restaurants and shops yet our room was quiet and calm in the evenings for a great night's sleep. Everyone we interacted with was so kind and helpful. Our very early flight meant we missed the last day of exceptional breakfasts — but there was a to-go package waiting for us with treats and juice boxes. Great amenities — extra towels for showers after visiting the iron-rich geothermal pools, that incredible breakfast!, and always available cofffee — were much appreciated. This was a perfect place to launch into adventures around São Miguel and return to comfort each night. "
