"The staff and service were excellent. The one issue was the bathroom door which made a very loud squealing noise upon opening and closing. So loud that the other guest on the floor could hear it whenever the facility was used. "

Nightly music was superb as I wanted a restful break so the pianist was excellent. Bed very comfortable but rooms slightly dated in comparison to the updated new entrance. Pool area was spotless and all sauna and steam room jacuzzi were warm and working. Staff very friendly and efficient. It was great to see James (owner) present, checking we are ok, exchanging...

We had the traditional Irish breakfast it was delicious. We did the falconry walk and boat rife of the lake. So much fun. The town of Cong is charming too. You will absolutely love Ashford Castle. The history is incredible and the art, bars, and restaurants are impeccable. "

"Stayed here for a week as a base to mooch around Mayo where my family roots are. Hotel decor is a little tired here and there but that did not affect our enjoyment or not make hotel VFM. Lots of friendly local/Irish staff, which I think helps to add warmth to the atmosphere and is perhaps unusual for this size of hotel - perhaps because of Westport’s size? Food is great. Had been meaning to climb Croagh Patrick for a while and finally got round to it this time. This is not for the feint-hearted and is very long and steep - no one mentioned this to me before - maybe because it’s a pilgrimage/penance thing - it’s not meant to be easy. But it’s near enough a scramble in places - never come across a ‘tourist’ track so challenging before. Pick a good day weather-wise, dress appropriately and take plenty of water. If you’ve got sticks use them. Some climbers were rocking up looking as if they’d just stepped out of the pub - this hill needs a bit more respect than that imho. Mayo is my favourite place in the world - enjoy! Slan."
